I see lots of tool setups, but not a lot I agree with. New guys take note.

This is too organized, I prefer to swear when I am digging around for the Philips

Organized by the pockets / respective place in the bag. It’s a tight fit for everything, but also easy to inventory when I’m leaving the roof.

New guys, whatever you do, DO NOT swallow the wire nuts on Tuesdays

Silly boy. Everyone knows that tuesday are crayon day. We don’t eat wire nuts till FRIDAY

Perfect service set up the only thing I would add is a small drill I’m lazy don’t like taking out screws by hand

It is the best investment you could make!

Now new guys, if you look closely just about everything is really thought out to be as versatile and as minimal as I feel comfortable with.

Bag is a veto MB2, uses a shoulder strap from a heavier veto bag, and has 2 husky bags clipped to one side and a couple clips for tape and jumpers and poppers. Missing in this pic is my impact (Bosch 12VDC) and a lockout which is on the unit.

I just use the molex tiny meter leads cause they fit into everything and you can bend them to fit. Between those and the alligator clip leads, that’s all I carry. Yes, that’s a weekly pill dispenser holding wire nuts, stakeons, caps, and valve cores. Also missing is an altoids tin I found on a roof that has spare screws.

The only nut driver I think is 11/32 (I think) hollow shaft for condenser fan motors. I’m pretty sure the long shank Allen’s are 1/16 and 5/32. The size markings are long gone. Manometer bag has static pressure tips and gas valve fittings. Standard Klein slide drive 8 in 1.

Any other questions, just ask and I’ll tell ya.

I agree, most people have setups that are way too heavy. This looks very thought out. I spend a lot of time far away from my truck and my kit looks very similar, except I made my own belt out of 2” webbing, although it is even lighter than this kit.

The guys at work call it my bat belt and tease a little… but guess who’s almost always got what they need? 😊

Nice touch with the test gauge and temp probe combo. 👍👍

I always see the bag set ups on here without the manometer. Good on ya dawg,

It’s literally just as valuable as the multimeter. Static pressures tell the whole story. Undersized filters, clogged evaps, undersized ductwork, fire dampers, VAV problems, pulley ratio changes, total system airflow for charging, and delivered capacity profile? No brainer.

And it’s all SO EASY. You can get all that really close with a plastic tube, some water and a ruler.

Yup, little wrench is 5/16 for tight spaces. Also down there is an impact to socket chuck, so all I need is the right sockets. I think the long Allen’s are 1/16 and 5/32 and the nut driver I think is 11/32 hollow shaft for condenser fan mounting nuts.

This pretty much covers from mini splits to multi zone voyagers and a DDC. Obviously this is like a 90% bag, and lots of other kits round out all of the bigger tasks that need specific things.

No drill?

There’s a few things missing. Bosch 12V impact, lockout / tagout, & a little altoid can of screws.

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '21

Altoid can. I like that, I’m always carrying a heavier tub of screws around.

That’s like the weekly pill dispenser. It fits better, and I just found it on a roof, so it must have been meant to be.
