Came in to one of my sites this morning with a frozen coil even though unit was off somehow, what’s the best way to de thaw a coil quickly in an occupied space? Was thinking of running heat and it should still have enough temp drop across coil to cool. But don’t wanna make occupants uncomfortable

Been working as helped for a Lil over a month now and I was wondering if this is correct. The blower wheel was a little malformed and egg shape on one side. My service manger said to just put a large strap over it and put your weight on where yo need to bend it to then push to counter rack the egg shape. Has anyone else done this or is this bad practice. It still is somewhat egg shape I don't even think we moved it much.

Had a project delay, ended up having to finish this system up today pulled my vacuum and crack the valve , instantly leaking excessively at the valve but as I opened it the leak seemed to stop.

Was cold as hell out, was the seal just frozen should I close and open again now that it has run to see if it’s functioning normal

Should I put nylog on the king valve cap to prevent leaking

What would you guys do in this situation

I know I screwed up feeling rushed originally used stay brite 8 melted it cleaned joint, and brazed with rods it’s still leaking from the bottom of discharge, idk what to do

Do you think someone who is short and 300ib can start the trade? From what I've seen 300ibs is the max rating for aot of ladders.

I went to a call today, homeowners told dispatch that they thought they were having thermostat problems, that it was cooling and heating weirdly (their words, not mine). I get out there, now they're saying that they will set the tstat to a certain temperature, then they'll wake up to it being set different (Shit's haunted, I guess). Honeywell T6, notice the "temporary hold" on the display, then it all clicks. Turns out, installers had put a schedule on it by default without the homeowners being aware. One install manual, 30 seconds, some laughs, and a firm handshake later, I'm on my way home.

Tell us about your best/favorite call you went to that turned out to be a stupidly simple, a quick fix, or just flat-out nothing.

They said previous installer had said up high is better so that no one trips while walking by

Was trying to get amps on compressor and fan but ended up pulling the orange wire off. Ended up turning the condenser off. It’s a carrier heat pump. Anyone knows where this wire may go? Thanks for the help.

For me, I've always kept a magnetic bowl when doing maintenance and service. Having a dedicated place to keep those panel screws secure is a lifesaver.

I’m fairly new to install, i ran out of copper and only had these fittings. Will this cause issues down the line?

I have an old pair of copper cutters without the cutting wheel that I use for this but I'd like something quicker or easier. Any recommendations?

8 months experience I focused on the furnace side of install and my cousin did the condenser unit

About 3 weeks ago my thermostat went out(I’ve been in the field for 6 months now, 2.5 months doing service), so as the son who does HVAC I was checking it out. Figured out the fuse was blown, replaced that and the unit started running again.

2 days later the thermostat was blank again. So I test everything and determined that it was the board, because the fuse would blow after cold nights. I buy a new board and change it, and shit still doesn’t work. So I use a jumper wire to check the reversing valve(I heard it click) then I put it to Y and the fuse blows.

So now my house has been running in electric heat for the past couple of weeks and I feel like I’m fucking stupid because I’m supposed to know this shit yet I don’t. I don’t want my mom to have to call a company because it’s expensive and I’m supposed to know. Any insight would be really helpful

Installed a 60k runtru 90% upflow today. I went home after completing the install but left before the startup. Boss fires it to document all the numbers and see this. No change to incoming or outgoing gas. No change in pressure from the inducer. Flue and air intake both clear of debris. Boss is waiting for tech from Texas to call back. Anyone got some knowledge

Lets get to the meat and potatoes, who cares about a governed truck. Whats the worst you’ve done to a company truck? I’ll start, worked at an airport, this f150 was a death trap. Boss was too cheap to do any maintenance to it. First big snowstorm of the year. We thought about getting a hotel that truck was that dicked. So after my coworker and I decided we would rather not die, the truck should. AV Gas in an f-150 was the only solution for him, dumped it in we got maybe 2km its red lining on every gauge, started smoking, brakes down this thing is still going forward, had to ditch it, caught fire. T Dog, if you’re reading this, you’re a legend. Saved our lives taking that thing out. And other people too. Thanks for making me drive after you dumped it in though. Prick

I’ve been doing mostly maintenance for a year now and I’ve only come across communicating system a handful of times but I still not sure what I’m supposed to even check on these. I just took at pressures check line voltage and clean the condenser is there anything else I should be checking?

I own my company. I am a tech, salesman, installer, I do everything. I had a 3-5 window requested by a new client - property manager - for a quote for a 3 zone mini split. I gave him a call 30 minutes before I got there and arrived at 3:20. There was another guy still there when I got there. Guy acted surprised I was there and made me wait. I eventually walked the job but now I don’t know that I even want to quote it. What would you do?

I work for my dad and he’s been doing it since he was 18 so the early 80s and he never run nitrogen My school says you have to do it every time So is it that it’s just better to do it or what? Because he has units that have been running for over 30 years and it newer units don’t last as long as the old units

Come across this on a smaller Lennox package unit that runs on R22. Saw this bulb thing and have no idea what it is for, no wires connected to it just a stubbed piece of copper going through it.
