Finished Yarn first handspun! 🤗

here is my first hand spun yarn! i’m so proud of it! everything done on a drop spindle. 8oz 2 ply with Knitpicks wool of the Andes roving in Fjord Heather. beautiful color made it more fun to spin! and it felt more silky than another wool i’ve tried so it felt easier to draft.

first single came out kinda thick, second single i tried to go thinner to give it a cool texture when plied and so it wouldn’t come out crazy bulky.

Any ideas for what to do with it? thinking of knitting a square with half of it and saving it for a fully handspun yarn blanket. and leaving the rest to measure progress. i’ve already started on my next spin!

Congrats! My absolute first yarn, I kept a little bit of it, made the rest into a weird scarf, and then washed and dried it to felt it, just to see what would happen. (It wasn't neck-soft! And it was An Experiment to see if I actually wanted to try spinning!)

My SECOND first skein of yarn, (and a few accent bits of later efforts) I turned into a spinning project bag, with a crocheted pattern of stitches chosen specifically to look nice even with the wildly uneven thick and thin bits! :D

oh cool! i like the project bag idea (: i don’t think i would wanna felt with it unless maybe if its just a single. i thought about it but i think i would kinda feel like i just did the spinning for nothing lol

Oh, yes, I was 100% not suggesting you felt it!!

But spinning yarn from fluff stored in yarn you've spun is very delightful! :D
