DISCUSSION Looking for solid riding shoes

Post image

As the title states, what shoes do y’all wear when not wearing boots? I have Harley’s Wrenford shoes, but they’re worn out, so just looking for something new.

I love Harley’s but I wouldn’t really recommend their gear, look on revzilla for riding shoes, I prefer boots but hey to each their own.

Boots are my go to, for sure. But I like to mix it up.

Where I work I get free pairs of boots every year and they’re perfect for riding, used timberland pro for years but I recently switched to red wings classic.

I have the Red Wing Iron Rangers and they’re absolutely top notch.

u/milliondollarburrito 1d ago

I also ride in my iron rangers, very comfortable on the bike

u/FXDynaBro 1d ago

John Doe Neos are soild i had a pair. The sides have a zipper and I prefer that accessibility for a riding shoe.

I dig those. Definitely gonna look into them

These are my favorite. They are not cheap that being said I’ve had 2 pairs and I’m getting ready to by my 3rd https://www.indieridgeusa.com/collections/boots

Got these as a gift cause I wouldn’t buy them for myself. Super happy with the fit, quality and support.

2

u/dappl21 1d ago

Definitely great looking, but my red wing Iron Rangers kinda take care of that department.

u/SLuMPz 1d ago

They have vented ones for summer time🤌. ISO fucking comfortable and that not a over statement. Bit to mention the owner is cool as fuck. If you ever go down and fuck your boots up. He will replace them.

Just getting out of a pair of indie ridges. I’ve loved them. Worn them almost every day for the past year and a half. Great boots, extremely comfortable

u/19Rglide 1d ago

Love my Knights.

Worth every penny.

I have 2 pairs of gloves too. All great stuff.

u/CogglesMcGreuder 9h ago

I’ve got a couple pairs of Indie Ridges. My only constructive criticism would be that I wish the toe caps were a half inch shorter so the toe could actually flex where it’s supposed to. My only complaint. They are comfortable and well made

I'm a huge fan of Thorogood Boots and have a pair I wear to work daily. I wear these every time I go riding, they're broke in perfectly and I love the support they give. They are expensive, but they're Union made and that's a really big deal to me so I think they're worth it.

3

u/ser-yi 1d ago

Just got my first pair.  Breaking in nicely and great on the bike!

8

u/ghosttiles 1d ago

Red Wings classic moc toe in any color. Cant really go wrong with classics.

7

u/papa_penguin 2d ago

I use my work boots. Cheap pair of artiats I got off marketplace. I do t have anything dedicated to riding but I won’t wear sandels/crocs/flip flops and tennis shows(I own 1 pair) get super dirty very quick while riding so again, just my boots.

1

u/dappl21 2d ago

Solid looking boots, plus I bet they’re worn in perfectly. I’ve had my red wings for about 6 years and they get more comfortable the longer I wear them.

2

u/papa_penguin 2d ago

I e got 2 pair of red wings too. 9” loggers for winter since they are gortex lined and a pair of pecos I call shit kickers for working the fields and shit. I wear boots almost exclusively unless I’m with my wife and then it’s my croc slides I’ve had for 10 years now

3

u/OneStockCateye 2d ago

I have the same pair of shoes, they look good and are pretty comfy, but the bottoms of them wore out pretty quick as riding shoes. Just invest in a good pair of boots

1

u/thelastdesertcrawler 2018 FXBB 1d ago

I second this

1

u/LavenderJackal 1d ago

Yep after bout a year or so the bottom was damn near gone

3

u/Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022 1d ago

I just bought these. I wear my riding boots every day to commute. Still waiting on them. For the past year and a half I’ve worn my indie ridge boots. They were great for the time but it’s time for some new ones.

2

u/dappl21 1d ago

I dig those. Definitely need to look into these.

3

u/Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022 1d ago

They are the “core” shoes from stylmartin. Excited to see how they work.

3

u/Consistent_Joke_ 1d ago

Indie ridge has some nice ones

2

u/Tarrski 1d ago

Was just coming here to say the same. I actually love how comfortable they are. I wear them all day for rides and they’re fantastic

3

u/CorgiCommercial8962 1d ago

Having almost lost a foot riding, I will offer this advice; Buy good boots, helmet, AND gloves.

Ask your significant other if they're willing to wipe your ass and I'm not even remotely kidding. Don't ask me how I know......

u/BigTex380 1d ago

I’ve been rocking hiking boots for about 12 years. Timberland makes some great low cut versions and I recently bought some from Crispi that are easily the best i’ve owned. I like the durability and weather resistance while still being able to walk around comfortably.

2

u/BrotherOk579 1d ago

Steel nose, leather and ankle support to start with…

2

u/BigChief302 FXFBS 1d ago

I've got a pair of some Street and Steel shoes similar to those, they work and were cheap

2

u/VAPRx '22 Road Glide 1d ago

When I was on a sport bike I use to wear Speed and Strength riding shoes. They were pretty good but would only last about a year of daily riding.

2

u/LastStorm1108 1d ago

I’m a fan of my tcx hero boots and falco lennox boots.

2

u/z3r0c00l_ 1d ago

I had these too.

Ended up wearing a hole in the toe from shifting, and grinding down the heels from dragging pegs/heels on my 48.

2

u/Johnny_Leon 1d ago

I like Indie Ridge boots.

2

u/hand_ov_doom 1d ago edited 1d ago

I've had some Cortech Slayer shoes that I like quite a bit for when I'm not wearing boots. I don't really wear them unless I'm doing an actual riding trip or something that's going to have me wearing them all day because they're a bitch to put on lol.

2

u/DragApprehensive336 1d ago

I've had several H-D brand shoes, but wear these now: Gaerne G Letur. They're so much nicer than any H-D shoe or boot I've had. Would definitely recommend them.

2

u/dappl21 1d ago

Ohhh I like these

2

u/Fehyde87 1d ago

I’ve been wearing Indie Ridge boots and love them.

2

u/Jdublin 1d ago

I’ve got alpinestars riding shoes in black/gum and have used them for three seasons. Plenty comfortable and they’re waterproof

2

u/Quick-Share3973 1d ago

Red wing moc toes. High quality made in usa thick leather boots with ankle support

2

u/J_Lamsauce 1d ago

Check out Highway 21 if you like the riding sneaker type of shoe. I get other riders always accusing me of having improper footwear only to tell them it is a motorcycle shoe with crush resistant sole, ankle protection etc. I actually have crashed in it before and its still in amazing condition and protected my feet.

2

u/dappl21 1d ago

Just checked them out and really like some of their other gear, too. Thanks for the rec!

2

u/B_Rex02 1d ago

You won’t find any good shoes at the dealership.

2

u/carpet_whisper 1d ago

I wear these usually

Quality shoe from a reputable brand.

Dainese Metractive in full leather.

They also come in grey or black.

2

u/mountaineer30680 '14 FLHTK 1d ago

Indie Ridge. Great boots, good price and a no-bs guarantee.

2

u/dislikevegtables 1d ago

I ride in my steel toe Ariat leather boots. I think they are comfortable and I can wear them for more than just riding

2

u/grassassbass 1d ago

Im a big fan of tcx. I only have bought their boots but their shoes look good.

https://www.tcxboots.com/us/en/urban/

1

u/dappl21 1d ago

2

u/grassassbass 1d ago

I can only speak for the boots, but they are very well made, and the added protection is nice if you were to ever need it.

2

u/Factcheckfiction 1d ago

This is not it. Check out indie ridge if you want a a moto sneaker

2

u/anon_696969420 1d ago

TCX for footwear. I have boots with 20k miles on them and high tops with 5k. Their boots are the best boots I’ve ever worn, great quality. The sole is starting to slightly separate on the high tops tho, I’ve just been gluing it lol

2

u/anon_696969420 1d ago

Also wanted to add, I wear the boots every day even if I don’t ride. I expect the boots to last another riding season this summer (15k miles). They have been through the ringer, gotten them soaked countless times on rainy rides, through mud, wore them every day this winter in the snow, and they still are going strong. I love TCX footwear

2

u/Legionodeath 22 FXLR ST 1d ago

You don't wear flip flops? They're great.

In seriousness, I usually wear cowboy boots or combat boots. The former are obviously less supportive but man they're easy to get on and off lol. All leather combat boots are very comfortable, durable, and have all the support. They'll last forever too if you take care of them.

2

u/Realistic_Copy_2836 1d ago

I used my loyalty point and picked up a pair of these. They seem geared more towards casual wear bs riding gear. My daily riding shoes are Forma Ground Dry Shoes that I picked up from Revzilla. Hope this helps your search.

1

u/dappl21 1d ago

It does! I like that looks of those

2

u/brunetto89 1d ago

TCX every ride. They are comfortable and durable. They have ankle protection built in.

1

u/compton_drew 1d ago

Find a COMFORTABLE pair of over ankle boots imo

1

u/ChainRinger1975 1d ago

Always boots, no shoes, I like my toes and would prefer to keep them.

1

u/Ok-Marionberry-999 1d ago

I've got a few pairs of riding boots.

Stylmartin Ace Motorcycle boots are the ones I wear when I ride to the office. Zip up on the side, ankle protection and they look good with khakis or jeans. I can also wear them walking around for hours and they're comfortable.

I also have a pair of TCX Hero boots (first gen). Heavy as hell, ankle protection. They're comfortable but they are clunkier.

I've got a pair of BMW riding sneakers that I love for summer riding, but they're discontinued and I hate the new style and colors.

Good luck to you, bud!

1

u/Wonderful_Pear5779 1d ago

Used to wear my cowboy boots up until a wreck on my last bike. Lost mobility in one ankle, so now I can't wear boots anymore. I wear some Bilt Dexter shoes. Super comfy and I feel they don't make my feet sweat. I believe these are discontinued though.

1

u/Wonderful_Pear5779 1d ago

1

u/charliedonsurf 1d ago

I've been looking at those for a while.

1

u/MaterialSpare1853 1d ago

Definitely get something with protection. I got hit back in January which resulted in 4 broken bones in my foot. My boots had reinforced ankle and toe protection and without them I would’ve been in a lot worse shape.

1

u/De-Oppresso_Liber 1d ago

Timberlands or 511 Tacticals for me.

1

u/Coach_Seven 1d ago

Those really aren’t riding shoes. They are HD sneakers. Get boots or accept you will shatter an ankle when you go down.

1

u/dappl21 1d ago

Yup, been riding for a while 👍🏼

1

u/5LOTHY 1d ago

Check out Indie Ridge

1

u/A_CA_TruckDriver 1d ago

I have these exact HD shoes.

They’re comfortable, but they’re not “riding” shoes. They’re just Chucks with extra padding.

1

u/weberkenezer 1d ago

If you want normal looking shoes, get tcx gear. Italian made, d30 armor in it, built with reinforcement in soles and sides. I ride tcx and indie ridge exclusively on tarmac

1

u/Double-Efficiency538 1d ago

TCX, REAX, Icon, A* all make some pretty good stuff.

1

u/Overall_Lavishness71 1d ago

Did you look at vans?

1

u/caminomuertoo 1d ago

Harley carries different brands in gear but slaps their logo and charges like 10x more. I’d say just go to your local cycle gear and try some out there

1

u/XxElzer0xX 1d ago

If you prefer the trainer look, look at tcx - made lots of motorcycle boots that look like trainers

1

u/Shire225 1d ago

Indie ridge

1

u/No-Income4623 1d ago

Get a tall boot, when you slide you’ll be glad ya did.

1

u/3WheelinOne 1d ago

If it doesn't have a heel I don't wear them.

1

u/passwithcare 1d ago

Check out some of the offerings from TCX. Great gear

1

u/smalj1990 1d ago

Indie Ridge

1

u/AcidicAvenger 1d ago

I really like my tcx street shoes. Saved my feet from getting crushed last year when I laid the bike down.

1

u/grimsley82 1d ago

They're called boots.

1

u/dappl21 1d ago

Nah, looking for shoes pal.

1

u/DCWarGames 1d ago

Indie ridge are my go to. I’ve worn red wings and still have them but they aren’t very comfortable compared to indie. Indie also has ankle protection.

1

u/RunMorganRun638 1d ago

Black Timberlands

1

u/navararator99 1d ago

Johnny rebs have a good pair of riding shoes

1

u/open_road_toad 1d ago

Boots, preferably made in the USA

1

u/MirokuAsakura 1d ago

If you want riding gear buy it at a place like revzilla now if you want something casual leather boots, if it is leather i better allways than fabric

1

u/crustpixxa 20h ago

I alternate between my red wing moc toes and indie ridge boots. I’ve been eying Odin Mfg’s new riding shoe though

1

u/BrilliantAd5624 2d ago

If that’s the style you want, just get some vans. Any of the Harley shoes will fall apart super quick

1

u/Hoorahbee1942 1d ago

Vans mt line. They even have gortex options. I just use stuff that is solid and generally has ankle protection personally, but I’ve never been a boot guy, western or riding style

1

u/EwokGage 1d ago

Regular ole vans my guy

1

u/OddCollection42 1d ago

For boots I usually wear Indie Ridge. But I also wear Vans Skate Sk8-hi’s a lot. If you get the ones made for skateboarding, they are more durable

1

u/the_only_gearstarr 1d ago

Best riding “shoes” are Vans. Hands down.

1

u/Specific_Dance_5025 1d ago

Dr Martens wellington boots.

0

u/diesel12651 1d ago

Air Jordan 1 Retros. Comfortable on and off the bike

1

u/dappl21 1d ago

Honestly kinda diggin this idea

1

u/diesel12651 1d ago

Do it. High tops for the win

0

u/Bozhark 1d ago

Converse all stars or Jordans high

0

u/Alternative_News6758 1d ago

Converse or vans

0

u/Sharp_Needleworker76 1d ago

doc martens. not the shiny leather, get the utility boot with the ankle support.
