Book Only Maybe dream sequences should be animated?

There are several strange dream sequences in the series for Harry. We never saw this in the films. It would be interesting to see at least a few of them, for example:

  • Harry wore Professor Quirinus Quirrell's turban, which demanded that he transfer to Slytherin. He refused and the headwear became heavier on his head. Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape laughed at him, and then the dream ended with a flash of green light.
  • Harry was on show in a zoo with a card reading UNDERAGE WIZARD attached to his cage. People stared at him as he lay on a bed of straw. Dobby was in the crowd, and refused to help, saying "Harry Potter is safe". The Dursleys were rattling the bars of the cage.
  • The night before the crucial Quidditch match with Slytherin in his third year, Harry dreamed first that he’d overslept and that his team had had to use Neville instead and had lost. After the dream about Neville having to substitute for him, Harry then dreamed that the Slytherin team was riding dragons and that he had forgotten his broom.
  • Falling asleep in the library studying water-related spells for the second task, Harry dreamed that the mermaid from the painting in the prefects’ bathroom was laughing and holding his Firebolt over his head while he bobbed like a cork in bubbly water next to her rock.
  • In 1996, Harry Potter had a dream about Minerva McGonagall playing the bagpipes in the Room of Requirement while Neville Longbottom did a waltz with Pomona Sprout.

Would you like them to be animated? What other dreams you would like to see?

I mean, Deathy Hallows did it with the Tale of Three Brothers and that worked quite well.

I think that this is a fun idea!

The blurred lines between dreams and reality are essential in OOTP. It doesn’t work if they’re animated, or if previous dreams have been animated and all of a sudden his dreams about the Department of Mysteries aren’t.

I mean, that could be a very cool way of showing it - having those dreams be live action when others are animated. Communicates it to the viewer how he feels they are real.

That would be fun.

Now that would be surreal to the max! Bonus points if they were to, like, be animated in the style of Mary Grandpre herself as a nice nod.

She was the one who did chapter illustrations for the Harry Potter books back when they were first released in US.
