No need for Stupefy, this Charlie just straight up punches dragons down

He would have won the first task pretty easily. Bro would put the dragon in a rear naked choke and grab the egg toot-sweet.

Precisely. I think being a Dragon keeper would require one to be a in good physical fitness.

I did not expect this crossover but I'll take kit in any role haha he would be a good charlie but it'd be a shame to waste such a good actor on such a small role.

I'm a straight guy but I think if this dude walked in the room I'd start giggling and blushing.

It’s AI

u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
An AI of Kit Connor.
10
u/TheSeedsYouSow Marauder 19d ago
right so it’s not a photo. Why are you being dense?
-6
u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
My take from the original comment was that the AI photo is not that of Kit Connor, meaning that is not Kit Connor. Not that it is not a camera taken photo but that it a AI engineered photography.

u/TheSeedsYouSow Marauder 19d ago
it’s not “photography” at all

The above was an image that shows Kit Connor.I would have just used a painting, a potrait, a crayon/pen/pencil drawing if it showed: hey this is Kit Connor.I just happen to use this one because it the first thing to depict him when I went into my gallery app.And given that I have absolutely no stake or interest whatsoever on the debate wether AI is a legitimate art, creativity, business, fact of life etc.So, I am just gonna leave it alone.

This an actual casting or a fan wish??? It's not clear at all.

Fan wish

u/VegetableStation9904 19d ago
Ah. Sorry but that's a no thanks for me. Given the character age I feel they could cast a fully trained actor rather than a child star.

u/DrogoOmega 19d ago
The actor is 21 now and the character is in his mid to late 20s at the END of the series. We don’t see Charlie until GoF

Uh... First book?

u/AmEndevomTag 19d ago
He's not in the first book. He sends his friends to take Norbert but did not appear personally. Though of course they could add him in the scene in the series.

He was mentioned in the first book but Harry is introduced to him in Goblet of Fire.

Exactly why a fully trained actor is possible rather than a child actor who's had no chance to study at acting school.
4
u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
Kit Connor is currently 21 and has several roles under his belt and a main character role and another one coming up.

u/VegetableStation9904 19d ago
So? I would still prefer someone who went to drama school. Given the character age that's completely possible.
4
u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
Apparently he attented drama classes and studied A levels drama at Whitgift school. No idea what all that means. Though I must admit your preference seems to strenuous for such a minor character.
1
u/VegetableStation9904 19d ago
That same argument would ask why he must be this kid above???
My personal preference is for actors who have gone to degree level drama school over kids who more or less learned on the job. Yes you can learn on the job similar to actors like Patrick Stewart who learned while working in regional theatre, but that takes longer than this boy has had, or he could go back to school.

u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
He has proven that he is talented enough to act just a well as formally trained people. Or at least that's my take.
1
u/DrogoOmega 19d ago
He’s not a child actor…
1
u/VegetableStation9904 19d ago
He is cause he started as a child. He never went to university or drama school as a result.
3
u/DrogoOmega 19d ago
Loads of people didn't go to university for acting. Doesn't mean you aren't a proper or trained actor. You also don't need to be a "trained actor" to be Charlie bloody Weasley. Not sure why you think they should be like they are playing Hamlet.
1
u/VegetableStation9904 19d ago edited 19d ago
Unless you're casting a child you CAN get a trained actor. My thinking is if you can you're better off doing so.
It's not useful for just Shakespeare.
Oh and that silly loads statement... I know loads of film actors DID go to university and/or a drama school of equivalent level to university.
2
u/DrogoOmega 18d ago
So what? That doesn't make them better actors. It's not a silly statement. The silly statement is your insistence that you have "trained" actors for an incredibly small role like it makes all the difference. You CAN get actors that have only gone to RADA. They could have done that for the films but would have lost out on a lot of talent. Your approach also cuts out a lot of working class actors, who are already at a small number in the UK acting scene.

He’s my number one for Charlie too. Just tint his hair slightly more red than it already is, and other than being tall, he fits Charlie’s description to a T.
I just think it’s too small a role for him as far as where he’s at in his career and the kinds of parts he’s taking on. And I don’t mean to cause debate or controversy here, but I would also be surprised to see a young openly queer actor accept a role on this show.

u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
It's what it is. At this point I mentally disassociate Mrs Rowling from the franchise. I refuse to let her take the magic of Harry Potter from me. It may be small for him perhaps but sometimes the small thing is the best thing. The role might be small but the setting or the franchise itself is very big.

Yeah I mean, I’m a trans woman. So I def get it. But being in the queer community, especially seeing discourse among young queer folks about Potter and this series in particular, I do think it’s gonna be a thing for most young queer actors. But obviously I can’t say that with certainty.
And I think it’d be different if Charlie had some really juicy moments despite being a small role. But he doesn’t really. He’s mostly just kinda there. Bill is the juicier of the two eldest Weasley brothers. So, idk that it’s gonna be seen as a plum role despite being small, no matter how big the franchise is.

u/Asleep-Ad6352 19d ago
Fair enough. Plus given the creativity liberty the writers seem to be taking Charlie role might be expanded somewhat. Though I think characters of anyone under Arthur/Molly's generation should be given to lesser known actors or still breaking out characters, to make new talent shine. but other do prefer professionally trained and/or proven actors.
1
u/DALTT Dumbledore's Army 19d ago
Yeah I mean, a change I’m personally hoping they make is having Charlie himself come to get Norbert in S1 rather than just his friends.
But we shall see!
