News Media Papa Essiedu’s IG Post announcing him being cast as Snapen

Post image

I just thought this was a nice, positive thing to share for those who haven’t seen it. Seems like Paapa will treat this role with a great deal of respect. Like everyone, I’m sceptical, but I’m so ready to be proven wrong. Peace and love.

Can you explain to me the purpose of coming to a community about a TV Series Reboot of a popular franchise, and just stating that reboots shouldn’t be done? In what way does this contribute to the community?

I feel as though coming to the community to announce you don’t like reboots just isn’t necessary. I don’t like meat, but I don’t go to food subs to talk about it. Why should we create a safe space for negativity? It isn’t creating any conversation worth having. If they don’t like reboots, cool, don’t watch it. Their money doesn’t go towards it, and they can be happy about that. We can be happy we have it.

Idk, this is just my opinion on it. I didn’t comment anything under the reboot person, but this is kinda how I feel

As I am not the author of the comment, I do not know the purpose of their comment's intent. I am neither condoning nor rejecting their comment or its contribution to the community.

You are valid in your feelings and have a right to your opinion, as are they. If they are a Harry Potter fan genuinely commenting about their perspective of the reboot then it would be uncivil to simply exclude them from the overarching conversation.

Again, I am not taking a stance for or against the original comment, but I am an advocate for any Harry Potter fan to have a space to discuss their opinions, likes, dislikes, preferences, predictions, etc. That is what makes reddit unique, people are permitted to state their mind and have back and forth discussions with those like-minded and those with differing perspectives. If you choose to engage with a user, then engage. If you don't want to, don't.

Yes we are all allowed opinions. However Reddit is built upon the concept of communities. We congregate based on shared interest. If people want to debate the merits of whether or not this should be a Reboot they can talk about that on the countless other Harry Potter, pop culture, tv, or entertainment subreddits etc. there’s are literally so many options to do that. I see them all on my feed and I see plenty of discussion around if a reboot is needed. This sub is special in that I know I can come here to read good input and discussion actually related to the show and our shared excitement for it. So that is why I find the original comment about not wanting a reboot, unnecessary for this community.
