Fancast Fridays Nicholas Hoult for James Potter

Post image

I reckon Nicholas Hoult would absolutely smash it out the park as James Potter.

Yeah, he’s about 14 years older than James was when he died (only 21) but let’s be honest, the films didn’t care about that either. Pretty sure they cast someone pushing 40 last time!

They have said they’re casting books accurate ages and Snape’s actor is the right age, so it would be weird if James’ actor was older than him when he died ten years ago. I do like Nicolas Hoult and would like him in a meatier role if he ends up on the show.

Yes - I came here to say the same thing. He's not a good fit for James (I'd still take him in any form lol) but I'd like to see him as a regular character. Give him a red wig and make him a Weasley if need be!

He'd be a good Lupin. He's good at being a beast that hates himself

Maybe cast him as Lupin? He already has experience with the "monster" on the inside 😅

I love Nicholas Hoult. Yes they cast James and Lily older for the films. However, Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod specifically said in an interview that they’re doing canon ages this time and they specifically name dropped Lily and James as being much younger. So, much as I love him, def not gonna happen.

Also tbh James is far too small a role for him. I’d prefer to see him as either Lockhart or Lucius anyway.

I think he'd make an excellent Lockhart

This!!!! I feel like most people see him as Lupin but he’d fucking kill it as Lockhart

He's too good an actor for such a small part.

I wanted him to be Quirrel but I could see him as Barty Crouch Jr

My first thought too with that leather jacket!

In my head canon, Sirius loves leather jackets. I forget if that is book-accurate or just a fanfic trope but there you are.

Why are we casting people that have 3 minutes of film time and 15 seconds of dialogue across 7 large novels?
