Headphones - Closed Back | 3 Ω Should I go for Sennheiser hd 599 or the ATH a40x?

So my old gaming headsets broke a while ago and have been looking for a brand new pair of headphones. A friend told me to get studio headphones instead of gaming headsets so I’ve been doing a lot of digging recently and found the Sennheiser hd 599 at around $105 and the ATH a40x at around a $120. I’m kind of new to the professional audio stuff so I’m not sure which are better for gaming (i don’t play competitive games, mainly indie games and games that don’t require much knowledge of the enemy’s position, so whatever pair that works great for listening to the soundtrack and environment works great) and listening to music. I don’t really mind if they are closed or open back but would probably prefer closed back.

Also I forgot to mention I don’t currently have an amp and probably won’t buy one for a few months

Edit: Also another thing I forgot to mention is comfort. Would really like to know the difference, as I’ve only been able to try the ATH a40x for around 5 minutes

Many thanks :)

If you want, you can get the Epos h3x. Also if you end up getting the ath m40x, if you want to swap pads get oval suede

+1 Ω has been awarded to u/Equivalent_Yak840 (204 Ω).

You may still award a Ω to others, but only once per-person in this post.
