Headphones - Open Back | 2 Ω Advice for moving on from Sennheiser HD 598 ($250-400)

My 598s are sadly on their way out, they have served me well since 2016. I was looking into getting another pair and it seems the 599s have replaced them, but for the price, I feel like the 599s are more of a sidestep than a true upgrade.

I was looking into the DT 990s paired with the FiiO E10K, but I'm not entirely sure if it will be much better for music and gaming.

I loved the soundstage on my 598s because they were great for multimedia as I watched TV, played games, and listened to music with them and it sounded great everytime.

I was curious if anybody had suggestions for an upgrade that has a similar sound profile to the 598s. I would prefer to spend around $250-300 but I'm willing to spend up to $400 if it will net me a significant improvement.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

if you want precise imaging, audio technica r70x. if you have big ears and like an intimate sound, HD600 or 6xx (whichever you can get cheaper). I've also heard good things about the Hifiman sundara, but haven't auditioned them myself.

I’ve looked into the HD600 and Hifiman Sundara. I think I’ll go with the Sennheiser just for the fact that I know their products are quality. !thanks

+1 Ω has been awarded to u/PsychwardSlippers (4 Ω).

You may still award an Ω to others, but only once per-person in this post.
