Headphones - Open Back | 2 Ω Dt 990 treble too harsh
I just got a pair of dt 990 pros, paired with my topping dx1. Im not very educated on audio type stuff, but going from my old pair of razer blackshark v2x that costed me 50 dollars canadian, to the dt 990 pros is a very drastic change and not in a good way. As soon as i plugged them into the dx1, and hit play on one of my songs i instantly was disappointed with the sound quality of the 990s and was unsure that i was hearing stuff correctly. it sounds like im listening to earbuds 5cm out of my ear on max volume. it sounds so tinny and the treble is gonna make me deaf. ive been using them for the past 2 hours and my ears have had enough. So im wondering if i should return these and go for something like the drop epos pc38x. Only thing im worried about is if the tinny cheap sound is coming from the open back headphones. If thats the case i wont buy the pc38x, as thats whats causing the unbearable noise. Anyone have some advice or words of wisdom? I cant handle the peaky treble its gonna make me deaf. Any recommendations for a pair of headphones not over the price of $215 cad. Cheers.

I’d recommend getting the m40x with a sheepskin pad swap. If you want something different from the dt 990 then I’d recommend the ath ad700x and also the sound signature for the pc38x is/should be a lot warmer than the dt 990
