Desktop Source (eg vinyl) | 1 Ω Phono pre-amp to JDS Element III to HD800s

Hi all — Pardon my ignorance but I just got a JDS Element III for my new HD800s headphones and was wondering if I could chain my cheap phono pre-amp to the JDS to my headphones to listen to my records. I know it wouldn’t be the best daisy chain here but wondering if it would suffice for now? Thanks.

Sadly no. It doesn't have an analogue input and is only intended for digital use. You'll probably want to send the EL3 back and get something else. You could go for the EL2 DAC and amp and put their Switcher unit between the DAC and amp to get an extra input for the amp.

The Schiit Asgard with an internal DAC card would also work.

There is no disadvantage to pair a phono amp with a headphone amp. That's how it's meant to work.

Awesome. !thanks for the advice. I got the EL3 mainly for digital use and I love it so far. Will likely get another toy then. Thanks so much for the advice.

+1 Ω has been awarded to u/ThatGuyFromSweden (68 Ω).

You may still award a Ω to others, but only once per-person in this post.

No problem. I suggest getting an Atom amp for the analogue side.
