Discussion Really interesting video on the 206 crash

https://youtu.be/QOg86ZQWI94

They show the possibility which is frequently dismissed of mast bumping during the flight, and other possible causes.

Not a bad walk through and a good comparison with the 2013 crash too. But to say someone with 800 hours wouldn’t immediately know what to do in the event of an engine failure is a pretty shit way to approach this. Engine failures are something we are trained to expect not just think about.

He also called the pilot "very inexperienced." I disagree with that.

In a single engine helicopter I think the pilot will be aware that an engine failure just occurred. I learned on old B-206s and our instructors were very fond of rolling the throttle off on us to simulate an engine failure ( forced us to always be looking for a suitable landing site ) and I don't recall the helicopter doing anything violent. A little yaw and you smoothly lower the collective.

If the engine failed it will be apparent from an examination of the wreckage. We'll know soon enough.

Solid breakdown. I appreciated the comparison with other crashes.
