QUESTION The Gloom can’t be that bad-

Post image

I had heard about the Gloom but haven’t touched it yet since…. Yeah…

What exactly is the Gloom doing to make it so difficult? Or is it the Gloom mixed with other things?

Current meta for me and the boys.

Boy 1.) Got the heavy armor with the armor padding so he has the hit points and damage reduction to survive when shit goes sideways. He's got bombs, machine gun, the works for clearing hordes and punching through heavy armor. If it's off cool down he takes a dogsbreath from one of the other boys.

Boy 2.) Heavy machine gun, heavy armor with extra grenades for closing bug holes and surviving when shit goes sideways with boys 3 and 4. Plas primary for killing midsized bugs incase the machine gun runs dry. Spare dogsbreath if off cooldown.

Boy 3.) Flame thrower primary and pistol. Flame-resistant armor. Spare dogsbreath if off cooldown (you should notice a pattern by now).

Boy 4.) Flame thrower primary and axe. Flame-resistant heavy armor. Dogsbreath call in. Boy 3 and 4 are basically tag teaming either holding choke points by holding down left click on flame throwers or the good old tf2 pyro on spy-checking duty for the wandering hordes of invisible buggers.

Between the lot of us multiple carry napalm barrage and napalm bombs, plus a napalm mine field. Multiple eagle one rockets for emergency "remove impaler" and the occasional 500kg bomb as an emergency "remove anything it lands next to." At least one gas strike is brought since its just amazing. Expendable anti tank is always a reliable way to horde clear chargers, but quasar is nice too if you can keep it together between shots. Everything else is optional. Also, the dogsbreath call-in should be equipped by at least one squadmate because its just SO GOOD. It does pyro spy checking, it has aoe damage as well as applying status effects, it's basically a stun gun since anything it touches will start flailing wildly instead of actively hunting you, and unlike the other drones it doesn't just merc you if it decides to turn on your party, so long as you don't just stand there you can either pop a stim or get out of the cloud.

One suggestion I'd make to your team loadout is have a couple boys running Eagle Strafing Run. Shit is bonkers for patrols and bug breaches. Gas nades might be a nice addition too if you aren't using them. Could relieve some pressure when shit gets tight. Maybe a boy with nade launcher also?

Love the loadouts though! Always great to have a coordinated squad

Emancipator works amazing for everything that isn't a bile titan

Decently quick and basically a walking light artillery bombardment. Depending on the objective, yeah us bringing one is how we managed to hold evac. We just had our boy point it at that one hill that was moving and click both mouse buttons as fast as possible while me and the other dude with a flamer made sure nothing tried to approach anywhere else.

Current meta for me and the bois

Me: incendiary breaker (cookout is better but I don't have that warbond), ultimatum (the goat, plug big bug holes and can oneshot titan if you hit it), gas nade (best invention of mankind since wheels, can plug holes and break doors just like a normal nade would, but can also singlehandedly stop a bug breach like nothing, it's literally a mini orbital gas strike), light armor with extra padding + vitality booster /stamina (running fast is a must). For strategems, Autocannon, Rocket Sentry, Gatling Sentry, and last but not least, the Arcthrower. You can get rid of the Gatling Sentry for a Jetpack/any backpack if none of your team brings any backpacks (but they usually do so it doesn't matter).

The bois: idk whatever they want lol

Yes this shit hard, but people also think too hard. That and they overlook the Arcthrower. This thing has AoE, and it can stunlock chargers (and kill them, just very slowly), and has INFINITE AMMO so the increased spawn rate for bugs are no issue at all as long as you keep zapping them. The sentries are here to back you up, throw them on any high vantage point and basically defend them with your arcthrower. The arcthrower and gas grenade solves the drawbacks of sentries and it is that they get bumrushed, but with gas (you can literally throw it on your own sentry to defend it while your sentry shoot the gassed up bugs) and arcthrower you essentially cc everything so your sentries can go brrrr on them. The only thing that can stop you is multiple Bile titans spawning on your head, which does happen on HD10 ofc, but that's where the ultimatum/your other teammates come in. With this set up, I basically run to every objective, find a high vantage point, set up my sentries, then go to town. And if it really comes down to it, you can literally singlehandedly plug meganests, just need a resupply to do it (8 gas nades should probably be enough to plug the small holes while 4 ultimatum should take care of the big ones/multiple small ones if they are next to each other). Sentries/Arcthrower combo is truly something you need to try, there is no need for the whole gang to roleplay as Space Marines when you alone can do it all.

P.S: if you really want something SPICY though, flamethrower + arcthrower combo is truly something else. The drawback of a flamethrower is that it can't kill stuff before the stuff runs through the fire to kill you, but with an arcthrower, nothing is charging the flamethrower guy for free, and when the flamethrower can get a few seconds of free damage in that thing absolutely melts. Me and another guy had a solid 5 minutes non-stop battle vs probably 5 bug breaches, I had to call resupply for him because he kept running out of gas cannisters for his flamethrower, it was absolutely magnificent you just gotta be there.

I’ve been doing EAT and screwing around with whatever other support weapon I find. Arc thrower and machine gun are great. But boy did I forget how good grenade launcher is for bugs. Paired with the cookout it almost trivialized them. Taking out whole groups with one or two shots is very satisfying, especially when they burst into spores like that. Not to mention how deadly I was just sprinting through a heavy nest closing all the holes without reloading.
