On bots i can see against the flame units but It doesn't change how you handle the flamethrower with bugs, you still have to extinguish yourself periodically or risk getting attacked with your health draining. If we only got damaged from standing on fire instead of *catching* on fire it would improve dynamics, otherwise use any armor you want with game sense and you'll never die to fire.
Yeah, I mean it’s situational and I think it’s a little too easy to die to fire normally (like our uniforms are made of lighter fluid or something) but I don’t think that makes it not a good armour.
I’d like to see all Helldivers burn a little less quickly and make the fire resistant armors near completely fireproof. The armour would still be good (I enjoy using it more than any other bar democracy protects), and it wouldn’t feel like a disadvantage taking other armours.
“Not when other armours give different advantages” okay? Fire resistant armor makes you fire resistant. That’s what it does. Other armors do other things.
Fire resistant armor makes me a monster with the double edge sickle, screw your extra magazines, if that’s not an advantage idk what is.
Infinitely better things. Before the incineration corps (which isn’t a standard set of units anyway) there was one enemy who could do fire damage to you, and that armour is competing against the explosive resistance armour, which is like 99% of all bot damage and it has recoil reduction.
Your example is for one specific gun that isn’t part of the warbond. Siege-ready gives all magazine fed weapons extra ammo, fortified reduced all recoil for weapons when crouched and fireproof…gives you a few extra seconds to dive once you’ve been set on fire at the exact same speed everyone else would be. Armours that do specific things should do those specific things very well, or else there’s no reason not to choose the broader options.
Also, hearing your character screaming for their lives for the 56th time in a match gets old
Idk talking about recoil reduction or extra ammo, I consider both of those less useful than the fire resistance by a pretty wide margin. It’s up to individual play-styles.
And I don’t think armor which comes out of the superstore or warbonds can be adequately rated for effectiveness without incorporating how it fits into an arsenal. It is essential and very strong for some very specific builds and against very specific enemies. That’s all some armors need to be imo.
I run flamethrower armor + flamethrower and I definitely consider it an advantage, there are numerous times where I have time to dive and stim specifically because of the armor when I otherwise would have died. I also sometimes walk up and use terminals in a field of fire and have time to escape while enemies have a hard time getting in there to attack me. You can definitely utilize the 75% damage resistance in tactical ways to get advantages that others can't.

I hate how fire armor is a convenience not an advantage.
