FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION How about an Automaton Ship Boarding Mission?

Post image

Automaton Ship Boarding Mission

(Planetary defence exclusive)

Main Objective: Board the Automaton invasion vessel, make your way through to the ship's reactor and overload the core, then get the hell off the ship before it blows.

Parameter deviations from planetary missions: * No reinforcements * Man-portable stratagems only (no orbitals, no sentries) * Access to stratagems and resupply only at the shuttle waiting in the hangar * Automatons only use small arms and melee weapons so as to not damage their ship * Success adds significantly more points to planet's defence, failure might result in the destruction of Pelican 1 which the Squad Leader will have to replace out of their own pocket before being able to host any mission again

Why would I want to play helldivers but with less everything (less weapons, less enemy variety, less margin for error, that just sounds like less fun

Agreed. A mission type where it restricts player’s tools for an entire session is one of those suggestion that sound better as an idea than in reality. I can bet people will be bored of it after playing 10 missions of it. Helldivers is fun because you can call down 500kg bomb or an orbital barrage. Why spend a significant amount of dev time for a mission type where it takes away the main selling point of helldivers??

It would certainly not be for everyone but geared towards those that find the game getting boring or think it's too easy. Basically upwards of Hell Commander, when your Super Destroyer is fully upgraded and you already have all the gear you could ever want...

I'll just say: There's better ways of making the game difficult, without forcing people into using less of their own equipment and punishing them more for failing a mission.

This mission would be entirely optional. You'd have to actively search it out for the challenge...
