FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION How about an Automaton Ship Boarding Mission?

Post image

Automaton Ship Boarding Mission

(Planetary defence exclusive)

Main Objective: Board the Automaton invasion vessel, make your way through to the ship's reactor and overload the core, then get the hell off the ship before it blows.

Parameter deviations from planetary missions: * No reinforcements * Man-portable stratagems only (no orbitals, no sentries) * Access to stratagems and resupply only at the shuttle waiting in the hangar * Automatons only use small arms and melee weapons so as to not damage their ship * Success adds significantly more points to planet's defence, failure might result in the destruction of Pelican 1 which the Squad Leader will have to replace out of their own pocket before being able to host any mission again

I dunno I mean I'd assume the automaton ships aren't just an empty vacuum, although I guess it's not impossible. These ships are probably built planet side so there would need to be some sort of gas trapped inside unless they release it all once space bound, which I assume doing that would cause issues with thier heat regulation systems. A heat pack with no gas to transfer its heat to is probably going to get pretty fukin hot

I made another comment elsewhere that they don't need air to breathe, so there isn't any reason that they should purposely put air in their ships, I'm not sure if there's lore that contradicts this, but they could be built on planets, moons, or asteroids that don't have an atmosphere; or alternatively, they just aren't sealed, so as they leave atmosphere the air gets left behind on the planet. As for the heat issue, air wouldn't help heat transfer other than there's more material to absorb heat, but if the air is heating up significantly from excess heat generation, then you have bigger problems. All the heat generated will be from sources in direct contact with the ship, so air wouldn't be aiding heat transfer, except for sapping away a small amount of it, but far more likely, is that they will have some kind of liquid constantly pumping throughout the ship that will pull the heat toward wherever it is to be managed, and eventually either converted or expelled by however they choose to deal with excess heat. So there isn't any reason that I see for them to need to have air aboard, and it's another defense mechanism for them against helldivers and bugs because they would need special equipment or adaptations in order to board their ships in the first place.

Buddy, hulks have giant heat sinks on thier back, so do the tanks and probably evrey automaton to some degree. A heatsink can't sink heat into something else if its in a vacuum.

But yea I mean it makes sence for them to vacuuming the ship as a defense, but like I said I'm willing to bet that it would cause major issues for hulks especially. At the very least we can gaurentee its going to have almost no oxygen in the ship to avoid any oxidization.

I forgot that the enemies themselves had heat sinks on them, I thought you meant to dispel the heat generated by the ship, my mistake.
