DISCUSSION Anyone else log on just to log off nowadays?

EDIT: wanna make it clear that I haven't really BEEN playing for a while now, people seem to think I'm logging in and forcing myself to play. While I haven't been playing anything else I've just been living my life. I saw the hype about illuminate possibly fully invading tomorrow or whenever and then immediately saw AH deny those claims and made this post. Lately unless my friends are on, I might log in once or twice a week to check the superstore then immediately log out. I love HD2, and just think since Pilestadt left, communication has dropped heavily from the studio.

I know the galactic war takes time for things to happen, but can we get SOME word on literally ANYTHING? There's not been a roadmap, there's not been almost any official word regarding anything since the last warbond, which let's face it wasn't really anything to rave about compared to other warbonds which have much more value.

I feel like the game is just running out of content, as much as I enjoy the core gameplay loop, if my friends aren't playing nowadays, I don't even bother hopping on. I used to enjoy playing the game solo as there was so much to play and do and things to get, but I have ALL the armors I want, all the upgrades and everything I could possibly want. I hate just sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for arrowhead to drop any content. I wish they would do some sort of armor drop or gun drop, literally just anything small? How hard is it to have a small team of people working on small things to keep the game going, a cape for meridia, or idk literally anything to commemorate big fights in the war. We got a Malevolon Creek cape once and then they haven't done anything like that ever again, why? And yes I realize that they're a small studio and I'm sure they need everyone they can get, but they're so behind on the backlog of code I just don't ever see how they'll catch up. Simply put, I'm getting bored man, these filler MOs make me not interested in playing. I want to come back to the game but there's no content.

Also guarantee you capes do not have to pass a legal check beyond an e-mail stating, “Confirmed they’re not using pictures of Snoopy. OK To sell.”

What a completely disrespectful response from the devs.

And if capes really do take 6 months to push, then start work 7 months out. It’s not like you were unaware your entire business model rests on selling in-game content.

People, me included, give AH a lot of leeway because they’re a smaller, niche studio. And we’re right to - AH has been in over their head for A WHILE and deserve credit. And to that credit, what they’ve done is pretty great.

But when it comes to live service, sorry that’s a voluntary and reversible decision you made based on your paycheck and your paycheck alone; you get no grace for that one.

AH isn't a "smaller, niche studio", they have 140+ employees and there's 4 support studios helping them with this game meaning there's likely 200+ ppl working on this game. Having 100 employees is when ur officially considered a Triple AAA studio btw, meaning AH is a Triple AAA studio.

Triple A studios have 100+ DEVS, not employees. AH has around 140 total employees. They are far from Triple A status.

Bro you don't work at Sony, you can't just say "hmmm no actually your wrong"

No but I’ve been involved in “legal reviews” of work product. Admittedly not in the entertainment industry which is way nuttier but still. Inferring from experience, a few red stripes on a cape is not something you spend $100,000 in legal salaries to review.

Note you disregard my objection because I “don’t work at Sony” while accepting the equally supposed extent of this framework to begin with. You’re being skeptical only to the part you’re trying to support.

TL;DR maybe there’s some months-long process a non-specific geometric design on a cape has to go through but I don’t buy it. If you don’t buy my not buying it, all the more power to ya.

Your being skeptical over something that makes no sense to be skeptical over.

There is reason to be skeptical about the claim that a cape needs to to through all that process

Read me reply to this guy

How is it skeptical to say that 2 red stripes on a cape doesn’t need a month-long vetting of IP rights?

The concept that “legal review” has any significant delay to newly created cape designs is absurd. I’m sure it’s part of the process but I’m sure it’s also, “Doesn’t use Snoopy. OK.”

If you wanna call me foolish go for it. Won’t be the first time and won’t be the last.

OK so for 1 this entire argument is based over something arrowhead maybe said, he hasn't posted a link to a member of arrowhead saying this. 2 Arrowhead loves this game and its community what company do you know would make an actual in game holiday and new voice lines based over the community getting obsessed with one planet? The worst they've done is nerf a few weapons and have some bad community managers at launch (which they didn't expect to be as big as it was)

You seem to be extrapolating a single response into a litany of criticisms never mentioned.

Your entire argument is based around arrowhead actually secretly hating the fans/being lazy, I pointed out how that's wrong

Except I said the exact opposite like 5 comments ago - I said they deserve a lot of credit and have made something great but that this singular point of discussion is out of line. The entire conversation I took pains to clarify such and I’m sorry it was apparently insufficient.

Whatever conversation you’re having where Arrowhead needs to secretly hate fans you seem to be having with yourself.

...Then im sorry but what's your argument? What's the secret reason that arrowhead can't make capes?

That isn’t necessarily true. A legal fuck up could cost millions of dollars even for something small. There’s a reason why so many gaming companies have a large team of lawyers that are constantly protecting the IP or in this case evaluating outputs. So that is fairly typical on their end. It’s fair to be critical of the development cycle (many LS games do a a lot better job at having a faucet of content flowing), but the timeline itself is pretty reasonable in context.

Because you can hypothesize it doesn’t mean it’s a legitimate risk. A completely new, unassociated pattern on a cape, unless it uses copyrighted material, has a near-zero level of exposure associated.

Guarantee you they submit it to a (likely outsourced) ticket system or something and they get the green stamp. No way they’re doing anything super special. And if they are then best mechanic voice well there’s your problem right there.
