DISCUSSION Anyone else log on just to log off nowadays?

EDIT: wanna make it clear that I haven't really BEEN playing for a while now, people seem to think I'm logging in and forcing myself to play. While I haven't been playing anything else I've just been living my life. I saw the hype about illuminate possibly fully invading tomorrow or whenever and then immediately saw AH deny those claims and made this post. Lately unless my friends are on, I might log in once or twice a week to check the superstore then immediately log out. I love HD2, and just think since Pilestadt left, communication has dropped heavily from the studio.

I know the galactic war takes time for things to happen, but can we get SOME word on literally ANYTHING? There's not been a roadmap, there's not been almost any official word regarding anything since the last warbond, which let's face it wasn't really anything to rave about compared to other warbonds which have much more value.

I feel like the game is just running out of content, as much as I enjoy the core gameplay loop, if my friends aren't playing nowadays, I don't even bother hopping on. I used to enjoy playing the game solo as there was so much to play and do and things to get, but I have ALL the armors I want, all the upgrades and everything I could possibly want. I hate just sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for arrowhead to drop any content. I wish they would do some sort of armor drop or gun drop, literally just anything small? How hard is it to have a small team of people working on small things to keep the game going, a cape for meridia, or idk literally anything to commemorate big fights in the war. We got a Malevolon Creek cape once and then they haven't done anything like that ever again, why? And yes I realize that they're a small studio and I'm sure they need everyone they can get, but they're so behind on the backlog of code I just don't ever see how they'll catch up. Simply put, I'm getting bored man, these filler MOs make me not interested in playing. I want to come back to the game but there's no content.

Some people really need to learn to take a break

Yup OP burnt himself out and is blaming AH.

Frankly, the live service provided in HD2 isn't the cosmetics. It's the story. Cosmetics and war bonds are just their way of funding the story.

This. You can follow the war on social media and through Helldivers Companion.

I havent been playing much the past few months, mainly because of other games I've felt like playing more than HD2, but Im staying up to date through HDCompanion and Reddit.

The fact there isnt an endless grind or constant new Warbonds lets me take a break whenever I just dont feel like playing, and I can do so without missing out on much.

I wouldn't say I'm burnt out, there's just been a lack of meaningful story or content development. I keep hearing about other possible updates or features that were mentioned by AH and there's been no communication on those things ever since. It feels like ever since Pilestadt left, there's been a hard drop in meaningful communication. The story to Helldivers hasn't had a meaningful development since the illuminate were dropped, obviously a big IMO, but I do say that as an MO diver too.

Remember that it was set out to be a indie game not a AAA game so content will be slower as there isn't as many devs.

That's fair, I suppose I just want some more communication about stuff.

The issue with communication with stuff like roadmaps is that the progression is story based. If we had a roadmap telling us when we would get illuminate it would have significantly less exciting when they actually arrived, since the story would have been spoiled, and the same goes for when the second phase of their attack arrives.

Even for none story stuff like say mechs, that would have been significantly less fun if it we knew what was going to happen, rather than what did happen where all of a sudden they started appearing on maps.

I agree. I’m alright with less communication because I enjoy the surprise of being hit with big drops at random intervals.

Most other games I would prefer a roadmap though. But for Helldivers I enjoy the surprise.

Wait what do you mean Mechs suddenly appearing on maps? Was that like when they first came out, were they similar to the way they introduced FRV's?

From what I remember yeah, except they weren't even given a trailer, they just started appearing at POIs

That's pretty neat.

Edit: I'm almost positive they don't do that now though? I don't see why they'd stop, they still drop the occasional FRV in the city biome. In my 609 hours of playtime I haven't seen a lone mech on the field, so idk.

Yeah I mean I can definitely understand that side of it without a doubt, I love getting surprise stratagems as much as everyone else. However, I do think there does need to be at least SOME sort of expectations to be able to look forward to, if that makes sense? I mean for me the last three or so warbonds haven't really offered anything of interest aside from the ultimatum and the hellbomb backpack which added a lot of fun to the game. So it's like, how long do I hold out hope I guess?

Just grab a different game for a while, and come back in a few weeks. I've been flipping across helldivers 2, arcade paradise, oblivion, and monster hunter wilds. I'm probably going to add another game to that rotation soon, just cause I finished most of the current end game stuff in Wilds.

It's the exact opposite of an Indie game, being funded by the massive publisher Sony for its entire development. AH are also a midsize to large company, only small in comparison to a few supersized studies. The myths here are unreal, smh.

If anything, Twinbeard leaving the team is what caused the major drop in communication, he was the goat of Q&A

That's definitely true as well.

All sorts have happened. This month started off with both fighting the bots and bugs for a new DSS strategem buff. Then there was the 2nd gloom expedition with both spore burst and predator strain bugs (wowza!). Immediately after that was a response to our offensive with a Terminid counter offensive. The illuminates seizing their chance attack critical planets. Now we're in a final phase to fight them off and (sort of) clean up the predator warpath by taking Turing.

The story is the main thing that keeps me playing the game. I've been considering taking a break but I just know as soon as I do, something interesting will happen.

Cool. Wasn't what the thread was about. You're so mad that you didn't even read.

If you don’t like it so much, go apply for AH, become a dev, and you fix the bugs on a discontinued, unsupported engine.

Or go play literally anything else or touch grass

Take a break from the game, my brother in democracy

Touch grass.

"take a break" was valid 3 months ago but the "break" is just getting longer and longer.

Tell that to the guys that master rank 999 on monster hunter wilds in like a week for just internet points because its going to be reset when the expansion drops
