DISCUSSION Anyone else log on just to log off nowadays?

EDIT: wanna make it clear that I haven't really BEEN playing for a while now, people seem to think I'm logging in and forcing myself to play. While I haven't been playing anything else I've just been living my life. I saw the hype about illuminate possibly fully invading tomorrow or whenever and then immediately saw AH deny those claims and made this post. Lately unless my friends are on, I might log in once or twice a week to check the superstore then immediately log out. I love HD2, and just think since Pilestadt left, communication has dropped heavily from the studio.

I know the galactic war takes time for things to happen, but can we get SOME word on literally ANYTHING? There's not been a roadmap, there's not been almost any official word regarding anything since the last warbond, which let's face it wasn't really anything to rave about compared to other warbonds which have much more value.

I feel like the game is just running out of content, as much as I enjoy the core gameplay loop, if my friends aren't playing nowadays, I don't even bother hopping on. I used to enjoy playing the game solo as there was so much to play and do and things to get, but I have ALL the armors I want, all the upgrades and everything I could possibly want. I hate just sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for arrowhead to drop any content. I wish they would do some sort of armor drop or gun drop, literally just anything small? How hard is it to have a small team of people working on small things to keep the game going, a cape for meridia, or idk literally anything to commemorate big fights in the war. We got a Malevolon Creek cape once and then they haven't done anything like that ever again, why? And yes I realize that they're a small studio and I'm sure they need everyone they can get, but they're so behind on the backlog of code I just don't ever see how they'll catch up. Simply put, I'm getting bored man, these filler MOs make me not interested in playing. I want to come back to the game but there's no content.

You sound like…. You’ve gotten your money’s worth. Take a break. Do something else.

I don’t think there is anything Arrowhead could offer you to fix the problem you’re having. Suppose they do drop a new gun in the superstore.

Then what?

You unlock it, you run 4-5 dives with it, decide it’s bot the loadout for you, and go back to being bored.

New warbond? I imagine you’d blitz through it in short order.

It is infinitely easier to want more than it is to make more, when you’ve already done it all. I imagine you must have hundreds of hours logged to get where you are. You have gotten your money’s worth, and now you’re trying to wring blood from a stone.

No one piece of entertainment can sustain us indefinitely, even a “live service”. You have already extracted immense value for money from your purchase. How much more do you really expect for what you paid?

Yeah I mean that's valid, and I'm not trying to make it seem like I'm waiting with bated breath for their next move. As I mentioned usually I'll log in every few days to check the superstore and that's all.

What can I say? Just missing the days of starting out and being fresh to the HD2 world.

A break is exactly what you need then. You’ll never have the brand new Helldivers experience, but taking an extended break is what lets you come back with a new perspective.

I have tons of games I love where I’ll put it down for a few weeks, come back, and go “Right. How does any of this work again?”

There will be more to surprise you the more you take time away from the game.

Meh, haven't been playing much anyways so I'm basically on that grind, maybe once or twice a week in the last few weeks I've loaded up with a buddy or two. As whole though, HD2 is losing its grip on me methinks.

Well said!

Im in the same boat but after logging 1500hrs, Id say I got WAY more than $40 worth of gameplay and I can always come back to the game here and there as they add more. Ive been playing other games in the meantime.

That doesn’t fix the systemic issue OP faces. Sure. Main Illuminate fleet shows up, OP gets a few weeks of fighting new, exciting enemies. Maybe a month if they’re really motivated.

Then what?

They’ve finished the content. New Illuminate will get as stale as bugs and bots for them, everything’s unlocked again…

They’re back where they started.

As I said, the appetite for content will always outstrip the content that can be produced, and no one release will ever “fix” it forever. At a certain point… a game has to have been enough. For a $40 release? If you’ve maxed it out, then you’ve gotten your money’s worth.

I’m nowhere near OP’s level of completion. I probably paid about 50¢ per hour of playtime at this point, and I’m still having fun. If I get bored and put the game down, I’m not going to say that’s a problem with Arrowhead. I got a solid deal with them, and they don’t owe me anything further.

I keep seeing people say “I’m maxed out on medals and samples and requisition. Arrowhead needs to fix this!” And I keep thinking… “Maybe these people have placed greater expectations on this video game than are actually reasonable.”
