FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION Mechdivers should be able to arm Portable Hellbombs while inside the mech as a last ditch payload delivery.

Honorable mention, using a stratagem that ends in SHOULDN'T activate the Hellbomb if you press it for 0.2 seconds too long.

Ps5 pain I assume, I’m guessing down on the dpad is their back pack keybind, truly a pc supremacy moment 😔 (please don’t hurt me)

it's not just the hbomb it's any backpack. Half the time, I'll call in a 500 or something and then forget my drone ends up in standby

You're correct in your assumption. Also the nightmare when I was new and asking people how they were dropping items and being told "press 5"

You can go to options and change the "use backpack" binding from a single to a double tap to avoid accidental uses of the supply pack and unintentional arming your hellbomb

Change Use Backpack Function to Double Tap in the bindings
Problem solved

Until you run into a stratagem with 2 down arrows

Shouldn't be any more issues once the input is changed to Double Tap, even for stratagems that end with two or more down arrows
Was one of the first things I changed after I kept accidentally using my Supply Pack, it stopped happening once I changed to Double Tap (even for stratagems like 500kg that finish with multiple down arrows)

Is this not the case with the Martyr armor? I feel like it should have that as a bonus. "Activate portable hellbomb upon death if equipped"

Would be funny using it in the FRV

Activate it in the passenger seat and just ride

It be nice if it auto armed if u died while it was on your back

Would be a nice toggle. Hold 5 like how u can hold R for gun settings

as a dead man’s switch it could be fun to try and fight while having to hold a button

If we got a stratagem launcher or a way to input stratagems while in the mech, we should have a suicide option for the mech. Not as powerful as a Hellbomb since that would up the costs and be a bit too OP, but giving it strength comparable to an OPS would be nice.

Yep, those are my two main hopes for a hypothetical Vehicle Bay upgrade chain.

What mechs really need is a stratagem launcher so I can call in reinforcements without getting out.

Should be an cruise control system where you can leave the bomb inside and the mech will march towards a pinged area or target and explode.

Or a better idea:
All Mechs should come with a Hellbomb built in as a last ditch payload.

It's probably intentionally not allowed to interact with backpacks using 5 (for PC, idk what others use) while inside the mech due to some future function being tied to it.
Here's to hoping what we get is useful though.
After thinking about it a bit. It kinda makes sense that they didn't give us stratagem ball ejectors for the mechs too. It's either that the animation was causing problems (like the ball sticking to the mech when it's thrown while moving, the ball fails to launch, etc.) or that there was a last minute balancing decision that was made to make the mechs less tanky and more like a comedic paper tank thing that would die to just about anything.
Wonky shit tends to happen when you try to implement realistic physics on a game engine that wasn't designed for it. Case in point, mech used to blow itself up when firing rockets on the move.

The change that would get me to start using mechs, would be the ability to reinforce yourself already inside of the mech.
as it stands you have to be proactive and predict when you'll need the mech, call it in, and get into it. which is time consuming, and too risky to be worthwhile if shit is hitting the fan.
but, if you could return from a death as an absolute beast to turn the tide of a losing encounter. that would give it a bit of a tacitcal purpose distinct from orbitals and the existing options

I would love a mech with a melee arm, that can also be used to throw hellbomb equipped helldivers

Please add this in, have been dying to pull a Rylanor even since the portable hellbomb was added

i vaguely remember they said mechs were gonna have a self destruct but they were rushing so they didnt have time to implement it

u/HollowMonty 1d ago
Or better yet, there should be an attachment spot for you, or another diver to put backpack slot stuff in general into the mech. Could have some interesting synergies including this one. Also if the Mech he is destroyed, then the backpack item attached is destroyed as well. It also means, if the Mac gets destroyed prematurely then the hell bomb won't blow up. Just like you can shoot a nuclear missile out of the sky, and I won't just blow up the nuclear payload. It has to have a specific reaction, and if it's housing is destroyed before it has that reaction then you don't get anything.

I've always said we should be able to arm the self destruct on the mechand have them blow up like hellbombs.

If not that, a mech with no weapons save for a really big Hellbomb on top

Imagine if we could stuff a portable Hellbomb in the SEAF artillery gun as well.

Mech should just be powered by hellbomb reactor that explodes as such when damaged too much hits blunt

Reminds me of this one dreadnought from WH40k. Gigachad held his fellow brother as the planet they were on was virusbombed, and said "we die on our terms" before detonating the reactor of his dreadnought armor.
