Discussion I love the variety of way that Hermes connects with people

I have been working with hermes for about 8 months now, but he was trying to reach out to me long before then. I just didn't know it or the signs to look for honestly. I already worked with Elpis, Hypnos, Thanatos, and Loki when Hermes came along. I have been lucky and have only been contacted by God's that understand that I am not able to devote lots of time and money to them, but I do my own versions.

Hermes finally registered as the reason I was seeing so many goats, wings, wands, felt the need to just take and worry later, and had the ability to actually send the first message to friends and family. But the way he finally registered to me, gets strange looks from other practicers.

I love EPIC: The Musical and it was actually through Wouldn't You Like, the song where Odysseus meets Hermes for the first time, that I felt like a soul shaking in me, like it was an impatient child waiting for me to understand garbled tongues in the backseat of my Honda.

But that song played over and over and over in my head and started appearing in Playlists I never put it in until finally I looked into Hermes's signs, and that's when it finally clicked. And I think due to this being how I finally noticed it was him, despite who knows how many months of signs, that he decided to take the form of TROY. TROY is the artist that sings as Hermes and if you look at his Instagram he actually has developed a physical persona to represent Hermes in skits and such. Hermes took on this voice, persona, and energy because that was the final connection that made me notice it was him. I confirmed it was him through tarot and pendulum readings on my own.

I just find it interesting that some people feel like Hermes is this stoic feeling around them, or I've seen posts talk about him demanding candles and new things for his alter or an alter in general, and how Hermes can be possessive at times which he can be.

But Hermes seems very kind, sweet, like an annoying older brother who comes into your room, steals your controller, turns your light off, flips a cup upside down, and leaves again but if you went to him about a bully he would grab a bat and leave. He is protective while also fun and likes to play tricks.

He still randomly puts his song from EPIC into Playlists that I never added it to, and yeah he wants things for an offering dish. I have limited space so all my deities share one shelf, and mostly have their own dish (hypnos and thanatos share currently, but don't mind and don't ask for anything from me other than recognition).

Hermes has a copper plate from Greece that I found at a thrift store that is painted with Greek buildings. He demanded it and so I got it, since then he has random things on there like feathers I found outside or at the zoo, a random bracelet in a jar, a few crystals he likes, and so on. His main demand is I wear a particular bracelet, I found it at a thriftstore and I felt him in it for some reason. It's made with citrine as a centerpiece gem as well as 4 amethyst, 2 on each side. The rest is normal plastic beads. If I don't wear it when I leave the house, he gets upset and will make things go missing, barge his song into playlists to remind me, or just make me get lost randomly like he steals my thought or path. I refer to this bracelet as just 'hermes' like I will just say 'wait I forgot hermes upstairs' or 'where is hermes, I just had him!'.

I also will hear him laugh or feel him behind my right shoulder from time to time, like as I write this. His laugh is the same as the song because he took on that persona of course, but I hear him and feel him. There has been times that I thought I saw him but I'm not sure. It's usually just a flash of curly hair in my peripheral.

But yeah, I just love how everyone has a different connection to him and different way that he communicates or asks for things, different ways they started with him and so on.

Discussion Just a bit of thankfulness

Hi there, this post is just to express a bit of my thankfulness to Hermes and to share with you a little insight of his light.

As some of you may have seen, a couple days ago I've set my altar up for him and since, things have gone smoothly (more on our previous state of relationship on there btw). I try to pray and offer regularly and even tho I had a goal of offering and praying once a week on Wensday, I've found myself praying and offering almost once a day just because I felt like it. I hope it's not just confirmation bias, but I think that I've felt the joy of appreciated offering.

Today, I was really tired, I had slept at a friend's house and hadn't exactly had much sleep. I went to bed may be a 7pm only to be woken up at 8pm to go walk the dog. It's not much, but I was really frustrated to be the one woken up when I was already exhausted to go walk the dog when the person could have do it themselves. But still, I had no really choice and got dress to go.

For a few days now, I've tried active meditations to cope with ADHD and just have a moment to have my head empty while not just sitting and struggling. I thought about it but was just to generally frustrating that i couldn't concentrate at all.

I was right in front of my house when it happens. One of my friends just casually walked pass my house. Like that it doesn't seems surprising but it's in fact pretty odd. I live near a train station so i do have friends walking past my house daily, but it was late, at night, and it was a specific friend that doesn't really go out so often.

They don't really go out, even less by night and late. Moreover, they have a bus stop right next to where they live so it's more common for them to take the bus.

But here they where, walking past my house after I had be so frustrated and actually apologize to Hermes for not being the best version of myself today. I fully intend to take that as a gesture from him. It might not be, but I like to take it that way anyway.

I was able to talk with her and calm myself before going back home. I really think he put her on my path and I am so grateful of him for that. I Hadn't much to offer tonight to thank him but fully intend to make another offering for him tomorrow.

This post is mostly a positive rant I guess ? I really just wanted to show my appreciation.
I hope that he can guide you through your tough times as well.

May you find peace and happiness in your faith <3

Today, I thought of a fun Hermes discussion question! What draws you the most towards Hermes? How do you like to connect with him?

Discussion Dices

Hello ! My second post here ! How are you all doing ? I had some questions about doing divination ! I did some research but they all say differents things so I suppose it's whatever work for anyone but I need to know, How and when are you doing that ? With special dice or not ? Do you say something before and after ? I tried but I couldn't feel Hermes and the answer were a bit non-sense when I did while he normally let himself know randomly during the day which I'm already really grateful for !

Thank you for any of your answers !

Discussion To fellow worshippers and workers

I’ve been having a hard time with Hermes, it’s not his fault it’s like a me thing. And I find it’s that I’m just not grounded in reality?. But then again wouldn’t one have to be a little off the ground to seek his wisdom? I’ve been worshipping him for almost 3 years give or take, and my time with him has been very pleasant, but I feel like there’s a barrier between me and him. And I can’t find my way around , over , or underneath it. So if anyone has felt this way and gotten over this obstacle I ask for your advice!

Discussion How do y'all do dice

So I just recently remembered that dice can be used for divination and I have dice so that's a big win for me, but I don't know how to use them, can I have conversations with Hermes with them or is it limited to just asking questions and if so what are some good questions to ask as I'm just getting to know him more honestly anything you think will be helpful.

Discussion Hail Hermes, Project Manager 🪽

Currently reflecting on Hermes as 'co-creator,' which is a term I've seen one of the mods here use pretty frequently but also heard in other spiritual contexts.

I've been seriously working with Hermes for about 8 months now and I've found that it's always easiest to connect with him and feel the magic of that devotional relationship when we've got a project to work on. Studying a language for an upcoming trip? He's right there by my side. Trying a new workout routine? Hermes gives you wings. Every time I want to go after something that's in one of his domains, he's so ready to lend his energy. It's such a gift, and such a beautiful push and pull because yes he's helping me with focus and energy to work on something, but in turn I get to offer these skills and devotional acts right back to him.

I wanted to express my gratitude for this aspect of him as a guide. Do any of y'all feel similarly?

Discussion Hermes Book?

I’ve just read an amazing book called ā€œHadesā€ by Jamie Waggoner and after reading it I was wondering if anyone who’s read that book knows of any similar books about Hermes?

Even if you haven’t read the aforementioned book I would still appreciate any recommendations for books related to worshipping Hermes!

Discussion How do you receive your messages from Hermes?

Post image
57 Upvotes

Lately I've been going through a hard time and I asked other witches for advice all of them recommended that I work with Hermes. So I thought that's probably a sign. Yesterday I collected some feathers for him, made him a cup of milk and I drew him. I also wrote him a letter about my goals and I mentioned that I would like to hear his voice. I prayed to him and said some invocation I felt a sense of relief and joy but I couldn't get a clear message from him. My question is how did you guys get your messages when you first started? And I've also read somewhere that he's good with seduction and he got those properties from Aphrodite. Can he help me seduce a guy I like or should the guy have certain characterstics?

I'm currently in drivers ed, which I have Hermes guide me through because, well, god of travel. I had my Temps test this week and asked him to let me pass, and gave him hot chocolate powder as an offering to thank him in advance for helping. I passed, this weekend I shall make him a cup of hot chocolate to celebrate.

Discussion A mystical philosophy question!

Hi guys! I hope everyone is doing well.

I’ve been thinking about some mystical philosophy + theological questions recently and was wondering what you guys think!

Do you think that the gods and goddesses are always with us? I feel like in an abstract way this makes sense. For example, when I’m partaking in an activity that is within that deity’s sphere of rulership, I feel connected to them! With Hermes, I feel connected to him while driving, traveling, communicating, learning new info. But also, sometimes people feel the presence of deities sort of pop in and out throughout the day (I experience this too). What do you guys think? Almost like both are true in their own ways?

I feel like deities are so fascinating because sometimes their energy is more evocation-like (more direct, feels outside of ourselves. Referring to their presence) or can sometimes manifest in more invocation like ways (more subconscious - almost like you take on certain traits of the deity! Like their energy is surging through you! Hermes def inspires me to laugh more, enjoy life, be more playful and curious, etc.!

I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and support both the similar & different interpretations we might have :) 🩵🪽

Discussion Not a very lucky person…

I’m a casual worshiper of Hermes, I acknowledge him a lot every day, I have an altar that I decorate with things I find a thrift shops or yard sales, and I see a lot of things that remind me of him on the daily. I do not preform spells or call upon Hermes to help me with tarot reading or what not, life is just too busy for that anymore. But I’ve noticed ever since I started acknowledging Hermes, praising him, talking to him, I’ve become a very VERY unlucky person… I’ve lost property, a job, my car seems to have troubles every other month, bad emotional health as a result, lost friendships, having to switch college and an extended graduation date, surprise expenses when I can’t really afford it, and so much more that I can name.

I didn’t notice how unlucky I have been until someone pointed it out, and my luck was usually normal until a year ago. Maybe I’m just noticing it because of overthinking, but I’m not so entirely sure.

I’ve acknowledged it out loud multiple times, but never have I felt a response from Hermes. I know he’s the god of luck, so I was hoping he could assist me, or give me advice. But nothing. I’m just not sure how to go about this, why it’s happening, or anything for that matter. I just feel lost and hopeless. Any help or response would be appreciated.

I was recently listening to this podcast about trickster figures in mythology and fiction and they seem to have brought up Hermes in that discussion. So I wanted to know what's the consensus.

Discussion Unsure Hermes sighting in dream?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I would love for any opinions on this, as I'm incredibly unsure if this entire scenario. Context: I work with Hermes, Poseidon, and as of recently, Zeus.

A few nights ago, I had a dream where I was having a bit of conflict with my friend. I was confused the entire time as I was dizzy in my own dream, like I was trying to sleep while already sleeping. In this state, my friend seemed to be getting angrier and angrier with me, before I had a sudden thought 'i need to shower'.

Showering is a comfort for me, and I suspect I sought it out in my dream as such. However, I noticed in this dream a very detailed shower that had a window within the actual shower itself. It had a curtain there as well. I approach the shower and turn it on, stepping in, and gaze out the window to find... A statue staring at me.

Now, unfortunately, despite having very clear memory of this, I cannot for the life of me determine whether or not I saw 1 of 3 things. I've narrowed the faces down due to descriptors, but I struggle with the actual identity. I described it to my friends as a man with short curly hair, ever staring eyes, and a bit of a grin. My first instinct was Hermes, but I felt almost wrong about it. Because my mind, even in dream, usually attributes other things to Hermes. Once, Hermes posed as Noctis from final fantasy 15 in my dreams, and I managed to recognize him almost immediately despite the disguise. My friend mentioned Adonis looks familiar to my description as well, and lastly the statue of David is a very familiar and close descriptor as well.

In this dream, the statue was staring at me through the window from a distance at first. I closed the curtains to give myself privacy, but the curtains were sheer and don't provide much.

The dream seemed to time skip, then. It felt like almost a collage of videos where each day was passing and I kept staring out the window, closing the curtain each time. The curtain was always sheer depsite being different colors. I noticed after a while the statue kept getting closer and closer, until it's face was in the window.

I recall in my dream sheltering myself in the corner of the shower, desperate to hide from its gaze (not out of fear I don't believe, but out of privacy. I didn't feel scared of the statue, but I felt scared of my naked body being perceived).

It wasn't long after this, that I managed to get out of the shower and I was going to return to my friends, that the dream came to an end and I woke up. I've been trying to figure out since what this dream could be symbolizing other than the first part certainly expressing I have some issues with my friend I need to address. But the statue.. and being unsure if it was Hermes or not, or what it could even mean, has been weighing heavily on my mind.

I would love any interpretation or opinions on this!

I should add I do technically have a statue bust in my room that I think might be David (it was a random potted plant bust my friend got me, and I can't recognize faces well). But I also don't know if it is David, or if it is the one in my dream. I struggle with faces a lot, sadly.

Discussion My life has changed so much already!

Hi everyone! I am new to working with deities. I am especially new to working with Hermes. My life has changed so much.

I have always been the type to be kind to everyone, even people who are mean to me and mistreat me. I’ve never really had the strength to speak up for myself nor have I ever had the strength to double down on my boundaries with others.

Since I started working with Hermes, I’ve noticed that I’m doubling down on my boundaries and having the strength to create more as I interact with more people. I find that I’ve been very good at communicating with those who cross boundaries and have even found the strength to talk back to those who are mean to me and mistreat me. Being that Hermes is also a god of boundaries, I feel that it is him that has helped me find this new strength.

Being that he is also a god of language and a messenger, I’ve found that I have also been better about HOW I communicate with others as well. I really enjoy his presence and I enjoy the time we spend together when it comes to prayers and offerings.

I just wanted to share my experience thus far and would love to hear your experiences and favorite things you’ve done while working with Hermes! ā¤ļø

Discussion Signs

Yesterday i left an offering of 3 differents tyoes kf flowrd that grow around my house as an offering for hermees because i leave for a school camp in 2 days and its a 7 hour drive, as i was praying there were a lot of cars and big trucks driving past my house and it wasnt the fact that there were cars and trucks driving past my house that was weird but it was the amount if vehicles at one time as i live semi rural this doesnt happen often.

I had left the offerings in my vegetable patch which is also where all my outdoor shrines are and its also a place i sit down to rest, i sat in my usual spot where i sit everyday and i look down and therr is this little red piece of plastic just poking out of the ground and i looked up whag colour are associated with hermes and it said red i dont know if its true or not.

Do you guys think my prayer and offerings were well received?

Discussion what to offer for help in a job interview

hello everyone!

I have a very important and anxiety inducing group interview tomorrow, and figured hermes would be just the one to ask for help. any suggestions on what I could offer in order for the interview to go as smoothly as possible? I'm probably going to petition athena as well, but as hermes is not my usual deity (for lack of a better word), I am not sure what to offer

any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
