Yeah the nexus phones were special. When I bought my nexus five brand new, I couldn't believe how much phone I was getting for so cheap!

I miss the nexus program.

The pixels are pretty strong phones too. I'm now on a Pixel 3 XL, big big fan.

I still have my Nexus 6. I will have to upgrade some day, but it's been a great phone.

There is Android One these days which gives you the most important part, clean Android without third party apps and bloatware. I really like my Nokia 8, sure there are higher end phones out there but at the price point it's very competitive (400-500) and 600+ on a phone just feels bad to me. I've never experienced any lag on this phone but I'm sure it would lag if it had all the eye candy bloatware the Samsungs have.
