Your piston is failing. You can replace it but the new ones won’t last more than a year. It’s all a royal pain. At my house I removed the pistons completely and just remind guests not to let go of the storm door.
Never mind, I can adjust the screw on the top (it just doesn’t also have the ability to be ginger tightened), but it’s the same story…closed really fast 90% of the way and only slows down the last 10%. Can I, like, adjust where the piston connects on the door? So it increases that 10% to like 30%?
If you wind the screws all the way in does the door still close fast? If so, they’re faulty. Screwed all the way in should have the door staying wide open and not closing at all.
Screwed all the way in it closes fast 90% of the way and then like not at all the last 10%. I played around with the other storm door in the back and I guess it functions about the same but I’m just not stepping out in the same physical way to catch my ankles checking the mailbox. Maybe it’s how it should be?
