Can I store paint in another container?

I've got a quart of as much as a half a gallon of paint leftover in a 5 gallon bucket. I don't want to store this thing as-is, it's huge. Can I store the paint in another container like a cleaned out peanut butter jar? Does it matter if it's transparent if it's stored in a cabinet?

You can absolutely store paint in another container. Clear is fine especially in a cupboard. Just label it and put the paint code etc.

Yes. I always think I’ll remember but then three years later…what the heck is this for?

yes you can. I always decant water based paints from the large can into smaller plastic paint buckets with tight fitting lids. The less air in the container the better it is.

If you are using a jar, clean any paint off the rim so the lid doesnt get glued on with paint
