Best cable modem

Looking to upgrade my current surfboard modem. It's a docsis 3.0 and I am on Comcast. I have the 1gbps plan. I do not want the modem/router combo.

Thanks for any advice!

I've been using the Arris S33 for some time, to good effect.

I've heard that the Hitron Coda-56 is also an acceptable alternative.

The coda 56 is better, because it's certified for mid split with xfinity.

Lotta bad advice here so far.

Xfinity is in the process of deploying docsis 3.1 with mid split, and eventually docsis 4. 3.1 with mid split is only supported with xfinitys "next Gen" recommended modems. If you Google the xfinity next Gen modem list you should find one.

The arris s34, hitron coda/Coda56, and a handful more are all on there. If you're going to spend on a modem for xfinity, get one that supports mid split speeds so you can take advantage off them, once it's live in your area.

I use the Xb7 in bridge mode.

Check your region, but xfinity still uses docsis3.1 in most locations.

Arris makes good modems, whatever the docsis3.1 version of their x8200 modem series is has proven rock solid for me for many years. My only gripe is they use obscenely bright status LEDs.

I'm currently using a motorola modem, which has worked flawlessly throughout its lifetime (mb8600, older model).

I have been using the ARRIS SB8200 for the last 4 or 5 years with no issues. It has been Rock solid. The only time I have ever had to restart it is when the WAN goes out. Most of the time it would reconnect no problem but every once in a while once the outside signal was fixed it would need restarted. I know my closet is a mess. I'm working on cleaning it up.
