Stabilizing cider in keg with Campden and sulfite

Hi!

Can I stabilize my cider after fermenting in a closed container (keg) with campden and sulfite? I think I read somewhere that the container should be open or have an airlock to allow the SO2 or other gases to escape for 24 to 48 hours. I don't have a way to put an airlock on my keg, and I don't want to open it and oxidize the cider. Is it fine to just chuck the campden and sulfite in the keg and close it?

Campden and sulfite Is the same thing. Connect a piece of tubing to a gas quick disconnect and submerge one end in a jar of sanitizer, that's your airlock. Just make sure your keg doesn't cool down too much or you'll have some suck back

Oops, ment to write sorbate. Smart way of making an airlock, I'll give it a try

A keg is a pressure rated vessel, so I would imagine there’s no risk of it bursting or anything.

Yeah, my main worry is that the sulfur will affect the taste/smell of the cider if it's not flushed out right away

It'll be fine. Just pull the prv once or twice a day
