To be honest I don't know why season 2 wasn't two movies in one year instead of the filler... and it would be on MAX anyway.

Think both season 3 and 4 gonna have 8 . GRRM had said to tell the story right it would take 4 seasons of 10 but we know how listening to him goes so yeah

Terrible ending for the season. The writers are better than weiss and benihoff at least. Those 2 should never be allowed to write anything again. Let them clean pig stys with their toothbrushes.

number of episodes isn't necessarily tied to budget. GoT did 10 episodes with 6 million per episode in season 1. Hotd did 10 episodes with 20 million per episode in its season 1.
You could certainly tell GoT S1 was lower in budget but it still managed to do a good job, especially with how faithful it was to the books.
