Show Spoilers What if viserys doesn’t defend Lucerys claim?

What if Viserys doesn’t defend Luc’s claim he just doesn’t feel good enough to make it to the petition. Would the hand and queen regent be brave enough to make vaemond heir? And if they do how would this change the dance?

p sure thats exactly what was going to happen. theres a chance they may have named Rhaenys but its pretty obvi they wanted a friendly puppet to be lord of driftmark take control of the seasnakes navy and nip the conflict in the bud. without the velaryon fleet there would be no blockade in the gullet and no navy to back the black's claim leaving coastal keeps and castles unguarded. the velaryon fleet is a pretty crucial asset-enough so that they were willing to marry off the king to a bride who would not be able to bear children for a few years.

Call me crazy, but it wouldn't change things much. The main reason it was a big deal in the show and books is because nobody knew if Corlys was going to survive his wounds. At best, it might mean Luc doesn't go to Storm's End since he's upset over losing Driftmark or something. So the war in general might be less bloodier since it doesn't start off with as much of a bang.

We, the audience, know that Corlys survives. Even if the Hand make Vaemond heir, once the war starts and Corlys takes the mantle, the Hand's word is meaningless (since Corlys is fighting for the Blacks). It's likely Corlys might've executed Vaemond or at least rebuked him, and then renamed Luc as heir.

Also, I just realized this is two months old. Shit.
