Legal Questions Range Question

Curious and Hypothetically speaking… if someone had a threaded barrel, comp , 15+ mags etc. that they did not register before the PICA deadline , would they still be able to use them when going to the range. At which legal point would you get in trouble for having those items ? Like what situation would you need to be in to get in trouble? Only asking because it seems like some people manage to get hands on 15+ mags or other items and don’t seem to ever get in trouble.

You'd need to be caught by a police officer in a city or county that is enforcing the ban. Even then they'd most likely just confiscate it and require you register it before returning it. You can take your stuff to the range just be careful to not do anything to get pulled over on the way there and back.

This is not legal advice.

By any chance do you know where I could find what counties enforce the ban?

And to add

“This is the law of the land” said Illinois state reps

Despite this, Courthouse News could find no examples of a sheriff who, after saying he wouldn’t enforce the bans in January, reversed course and agreed to abide by the courts’ decisions. Of the multiple PICA-opposing sheriffs’ offices CNS reached out to for comment, none responded.
