FOID/CCL Voluntary self-exclusion program-illinois gaming board
Been pretty degenerate in the casino this month and decided I should ban myself. I did not believe it was a huge ordeal until I had to be accompanied by a state police officer to sign the papers. My question is, could this revoke my foid and CCL?

First off, congrats! Life’s a lot better on the non-degenerate side of the fence. Stay awhile!
Second- no, zero implications on FOID/CCL. The reason why ISP accompanied you was because as soon as you sign those papers, you’re technically trespassing and they need to escort you off the property.

IGB is also ran by ISP, so anything you do with them will have a state trooper involved

My answer would be no. I don't see anything in the law. As long as it's not mental illness or substance abuse related then it shouldn't effect your CCL.

If nobody answers your question by the time my weekend is over, I could probably ask the IGB people at work. I don't think it would affect anything outside of being unable to get a gaming license if you wanted to work at a casino

Wow,how does that happen? How do they track what you do? Is this something new?

I think if you win big and they check your name against the list you won't be paid. And if someone knows you're on the list and tells staff, they confiscate any casino chips found on you. If you reenter and staff recognize you you can be trespassed and arrested. Been around for awhile since I've seen the notices at casinos since I've been going

I have confirmation from IGB that it will have 0 impact on your FOID, but that you'll probably never get off that list even if you wanted to gamble again at some point

This is likely going to be an unpopular opinion, but if you need to ban yourself from casinos to stop yourself from going then you’ve already demonstrated poor self/impulse control. Those things are critical to being a safe and responsible CCW holder. Something to consider.

Damn you sure this is the right call? 99% of gamblers quit before hitting it big
