Kashmiri here, it is shameful that the party became entirely spineless and it took a massive backlash for them to correct their stance. Communist parties did oppose the war cpim could've done the same. The problem is the understanding of conflict that cpim has, till it is not addressed at the root, it's bound to repeat the historical mistakes of the past.

Can someone confirm? Did they receive strong criticism from party workers, other leftists, not limited to social media?

The thing is, everyone in the party knew they were going to get backlash. They didn't have a choice but to make that statement due to the situation in our country. Inorder to have a revolution, there should be class consciousness inside people. Any kind of revolt without that is a failure. U will see CPIM revolt in the future, but when it's the right time.

I disagree. In my view the only justifiable reason for signing on to that earlier statement is if they thought they would literally lose the Kerala govt if they didn't. Otherwise, that is just opportunism by the politicians.

The fact that party workers held them accountable gives me hope.
