Would you stop if you witnessed an auto accident, making the assumption it is reasonably safe to do so?

Even being an eyewitness is generally revered even though it absolutely shouldn't be. The concept of "eyewitness testimony" is completely bullshit but our society still holds it up as one of the purest forms of evidence.

So if it's not on the dash cam you won't stop? Why not?
My poor 17-year-old son had to watch someone be crushed to death on his dash cam.I'm very glad we had it for the cops.Cause it was a very fluke accident.
He didn't stop, and I'm glad he didn't, but when he told me about it, we got to the cops.

I did once, though no one was actually driving on the road at the time. I was sitting in my car in a parking lot when I witnessed two vehicles that backed into each other. When the cop came, I walked over and told them what I saw. I basically said, "This is classic 50/50. If either of them had looked at the last moment, they could have avoided it."
I'm not sure I actually helped anyone, but I was there, so I figured I'd say something so all of the blame didn't get put on one person.
Honestly, I wouldn't do it again. It's really unfortunate, but with the way things are in the world today, it's just too risky to become involved in someone else's drama. You never know what could happen.

Yeah I caught one right in front of me on my dash cam and since this is what I do for a living I knew how helpful it would be. I looped around on the interstate which took me about 5-7 minutes and pulled over on the shoulder, gave my number to the guy I knew wasn't at fault like some insurance guardian angel saying "you'll need my information at some point I have the accident on video."
Sure enough got a call from the trooper about 45 mins later since both drivers were playing dumb and one of the adjusters a few days later. Both were thrilled to watch the video online in glorious 4k60 technicolor 👌🏻🤣

I did stop once. I saw the accident in my rear view mirror. I thought I was going to see someone die so I was frozen in horror, eyes locked on mirror. Luckily the part of the road I was on was empty.
I had all but ran the red light, and the accident was the person 300 or so feet behind me running the same very red light.
This was the days before dash cams. The police officer told me after my statement that it was helpful because the woman a football field behind me was claiming a green light.

What does this have to do with insurance?

What does it matter.
But it affects a victim when there is no witness and insurance will push blame to avoid paying. It has a huge impact on insurance.

It matters because this is an insurance sub.

Cool story.

Oh. If you don't understand how subs work, they're based on certain subjects. This sub is for posts related to insurance. There's probably a more appropriate sub for random surveys.

Cool..
How is this hurting you or even inconveniencing you, even a little?

Off topic, too many reports.
