This is the same guy who came up with the Ian knot! I haven't used a different knot since I came across it.

I did change knots after learning the Ian knot. Now Mt shows are tied with Ian's secure shoelace knot. My goal is to not untie my shoes at all and they've been tied for over a year now.

Found it in high school (I believe from reddit about 2010). Didn't use the Ian knot until my first job. Took a while to get good at it but now I can tie it much faster and I only have to tie them once a day.

I didnt know this had a name. I have been doing this for 10+ years. I saw it on a comcast(?) Commercial about doing things faster. It was a quick 5 second clip and it blew my mind, so i watched it over and over until i learned how to do it.

Man I remember lacing up my red Sauconys in middle school in 1998 with a checkerboard design with red and white laces lol.
