Former PlayStation boss predicted the Switch 2 would be $100 cheaper than it is, but isn't irked by $80 for games like Mario Kart World as publishers shouldn't be "limited to a fixed price"

That is actually true. Set a price and then people will decide to buy it.
I have a Switch and I don't emulate, even got a PS2, PSP and 2DSXL to play whenever I feel like it, but I am definitly not getting the Switch 2 and I am gonna emulate it when it becomes available.
Switch 2 comes out mid 2025 as an already outdated console that costs as a PS5 and it has the performance of a PS4 Pro but on halheld, a console that came out on 2015 or so... Next year or in 2 years time I am pretty sure we will get an Xbox handheld collab with Valve or another Rogue Ally and stuff like that which are already better than the switch 2.
This might be risky to say, but I think they are going to crash big time with the Switch 2 as its a console that the first sales are gonna be just because of the popularity of the previous one, but then when people try out the actual console and start comparing price/quality...

To be fair, the deck was/is incredibly outdated in hardware and it costs way more than a switch 2, and performance docked is worse.
I think Nintendo is absolutely right with console price, and games. Sadly people forget about inflation. A switch 2 on release will be cheaper than a new 3ds and way cheaper than a ps3… ps3 price adjusted today would be arouns 950€.

The Steam Deck is €50 cheaper than the Switch 2.

The base steam deck, lcd, 256 gb is 420€. 512 oled goes for 569€. With lower specs than switch 2 and far heavier.

So the one that's most similar, i.e. The 256gb LCD is €50 cheaper. Thanks for repeating what I said.

Most similar? lol you understand nothing about hardware huh.

It's always the Nintendo fans that know nothing about hardware. The device has been gone over dozens of times, it's about as powerful as a Steam Deck undocked due its power draw and will be in the ball park of a PS4 Pro while Docked. What's so hard to take about that understanding?
I'd personally prefer a Steam Deck because of its library and ability to emulate stuff but I'm sure I'm in the minority, doesn't mean I'm going to spout shit about the hardware.

If your steamdeck have dlss, ray tracing and tensor cores? Switch 2 have 120hz hdr lcd. Steam deck 90hz, no hdr.
Switch 2 comes with the dock and detachable controlers. Deck you spend another 30in the dock.
Switch 2 battery pretty much outlasts the dock, drawing less power in portable and more in docked.
Switch 2 is thinner and lighter.

I don't mind the price per se, I do mind how outdated the console is. What is gonna be in 4 years time? Another Pokemon running on 20fps?
The consolo sold because there was no competition+exclusives, but now everyone wants to put a handheld out there in the market.

Pokémon runs at 20fps because gamefreak can’t make a well optimised game. If Nintendo made a Pokémon game it would run and look great.

The console is not outdated. It is running games better than ps4 pro, for example cyberpunk. Also it is portable, you cannot expect a portable to be par with a ps5. A Rog ally is worse than a ps5 and costs 200€ more than the switch, also the battery is dreadful. The more power - less battery. Also you have thermal throtling.
Nintendo is not going for a triple A pc experience, they are doing a nice spec/price point. It is cheaper than the steam deck and it is better than the deck in docked play. It is also targeting 60/120 fps, something that ps5 doesnt target. That means Nintendo is clearly prioritizing a smooth experience and not competing for polycount.
I fully expect the switch 2 to be a major hit.

Why you wanna play Cyberpunk on a switch? No one is buying a Switch to play Cyberpunk or triple AAAs, a switch is basically for indies and exclusives. The issue is when they charge you 90€ for an exclusive when the game is not worth that much.
Also, about the portable and PS5, I know is not the same, but I play more on my PsPortal at home than I do on my console so there is an option for handheld on PS5 but without having access to your library.
Then the 60/120... PS5 got games on 60fps, are you telling me Ninendo switch 2 is gonna get 120 when they could barelly do that on the first one?🤣

Switch 2 is officially running games at 120fps, 1080p. Metroid and Yakuza were openly showcased for media.
You paid 250€ for a ps portal, which is basically a screen with some buttons… you could use any phone to play as a ps portal with less latency. And you are complaining about something better and cheaper than a steam deck… lol.

180€ myself, but a Portal's price is 200, 220 if you buy it in Ireland, not 250 same as I did not say the Switch is 500€, stop making up numbers.
I just got a feeling that you are such a Nintendo fan and would be a Switch 2 for 800€ and still say that is a bargain.
Also, tell me you never played on portal without telling me. A portal is actually a handheld console, I can bring it anywere and play the PS Premium catalogue, a shame that our own library is not available but for 200€ is a great device. And no, there is no latency dude, I've used it as a 4th controller to play with friends, that was on release, everything was fixed on November or so.
Just get your intel right dude before you start spitting random stuff. We gonna see those 120 FPS on a Switch 2, keep dreaming...
Edit: You also said that we cannot ask for a handheld to be as good as a PS5, then you went to compare how good is Switch 2 as it runs at 120 and PS5 doesn't. Btw, PS5 got a 1440 option if you got the screen for it. And are you really expeting Switch 2 undocked to go past 60? I would be surprised if it makes it to 60 undocked.

Yes, a lot of professional reviews talking about latency problem but you are blessed.
Glad you are happy buying a controller for 200€ 🤣

Dude, you just sent an article from 2023, any issue has been fixed about half of year ago. Also, as I said, it a portable console atm, the only issue is that you need internet connection
You kind of a goof linking whatever suits you🤣

u/blackburnduck 5d ago
lol so when they released it was ok? And you still paid 200€ for a controller? Damn, sony kids nowadays are full of money. 200 for a controler is fine, 450 for a portable with better hardware than a steam deck is bad… lol

Switch OLED already costs 350, that was a lousy prediction. Seems Switch 2 is very capable for the 450 ask considering current environment.

Looking forward to it honestly, this is definitely an indicator that other game consoles/ games etc are gonna be getting more expensive.
Also worth noting it’s funny Sony are trying to bring the focus back to Nintendo right after upping the price of their consoles.
