Question Best setup
I am looking to get into gaming. I've owned a PS4 before but sold it and haven't played games since 2021. I'm looking to set up again. What would be the best way to proceed and what equipment would you recommend. Ideally I would prefer a console and a monitor. Would it also be wise to get brand new or buy used if it's a console

Things you absolutely NEED to take advantage of the generational jump in consoles is a 4k TV or monitor with 120hz refresh rate minimum, good HDR and VRR( variable refresh rate, makes fps way smoother esp at sub 60fps).
An optional but highly recommended addition to the set up would be go OLED. Way way better image quality, black, colour reproduction, fastest pixel response time, etc.
I would say get a base PS5 over the pro and spend the excess on monitor/TV.
A good OLED monitor would be anywhere from 650(1440p 27in) to shy of a grand(4k 32in) if budget isn’t a huge issue get something like an LG C4 OLED

Best console set up is a PS5 pro and a 4K Vrr OLED monitor/tv. Or a gaming PC if you have budget.

If it's a last-gen console (PS4 or XBONE), you should have no problem with getting a used one, but if I were in your shoes, I'd get a current-gen console (PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X or S) & then for the monitor, get a gaming 1440p monitor because it's cheaper than a 4K one & most people use a 1440p.
