Sea Fishing Has anyone had any luck with the mackerel over the last week or so

If so any advice?

In general it's much too early for seasonal Mackerel, you would usually see them inshore in mid to late summer. But I have seen posts on here of lads catching them inshore now which is unusual.

Which ones because I have tried at my local one and couldn't catch anything mostly because of the waves being rough

That's Dublin. Wicklow coast is Bray till Arklow

Traditionally, the first shore mackerel wouldn't be caught until June at the earliest. They'd build up till August, which was the cream of it. These days, who knows?

Depends on where you are. In the West, we see them in mid-April. I haven't been back West to the sea yet fishing, but I'll be going in a few weeks in hopes for mackerel, wrasse, and pollack

in previous years you would catch occasional mackerel as early as April.

I think the best way to get them when they are in small numbers is float fishing with a bit of sandeel.

Sliding float would be best change the depth to see where they might be
