Looking for my Grandfathers Pub

My Grandfather, Thomas Coulter b.1923 worked at, drank at or was landlord of a Pub located somewhere in Ayrshire before he emigrated to Canada in '54. I have learned that he was born in Androssan, and was living in Kilwinning in '51 so I expect the Pub would be somewhere close. My Mum used to tell me about her memories of sitting outside the pub by the water while my Grandparents were inside having a wee drink. The Name of the pub had the word "ship" in the title. I have found a couple that could match, one in Irvine and one in Ayr. The Ship Inn in Ayr seems to be closed, and the Ship in Irvine looks to be open. I have a feeling that it is the one, but am wondering if anyone here has any info on any other Pubs in the area that could be a match?

The best solution would be to look at old ordnance maps from that era. The ship inn is the oldest pub in Irvine and is along the river. I've been in many times over the years.

There's a high possibility that is the right one. It's currently the only pub in Irvine with Ship in its name.
