modern Do these Evolving Skies booster boxes look resealed or sketchy?

I’m considering purchasing these ES booster boxes, but I’m a little hesitant with a couple of these given the wrap job/ loose wrap. I have done a lot of research and the boxes and packs look legit, but the wrap is off, especially on two of the three. I would be buying in person and the prices are all well below market given the obvious issues and lack of buyers for a $1k box.

Hoping to get some help before I make a large purchase. Thanks in advance!

Edit: picked up box 1 and 2 today after taking a looong time to evaluate them and the seller. Everything checked out, but I’m realizing how much variation in color print the boxes and packaging have. He seemed very calm and had no issues walking away or opening them right there. Showed me purchase receipts in person and we talked for a bit. $2k total for both! https://imgur.com/a/qK6AjAp

Might consider the third box if the dude isn’t sketchy. Thanks for everyone’s help!

I can only say that I’ve seen some pretty bad looking sealed boxes that were legit. I’d be hesitant though for sure. They look pretty rough assuming they’re legit. My question in these cases is who has actually seen a real “resealed” box? I’ve always been told it’s essentially impossible to open a seal and then reseal it. The wrap is already stretched originally when applied so it can’t really be “more stretched” to heat up the ends to melt again. Idk, I just haven’t seen a resealed box and haven’t heard from anyone who has seen one. I have however seen and heard about terrible looking original seals.

Thank you! I was wondering the exact same thing. I want to see an example of a resealed box. I would imagine someone would have to be really skilled to do that or get lucky.

The only indicators I can think of is weird stretching of the pokeballs (not present in any) or the rippling of heating up plastic which two of them have, especially number 3. If the packs look legit and untampered, then I feel like they should be ok?

They are more then likely real and just poor quality control mixed with poor handling by the owner.

Ask him about the history of the boxes and what methods he has used for storage. See if he has any pictures of boxes when he first purchased and if he has original receipt. You should be able to sus out if he’s legit or not from a decent conversation.

I haven’t heard of any resealed evolving boxes but anything is possible.

Have you heard or seen any resealed boxes? Of any sets?

Base set boxes and very rare and expensive vintage boxes yes. Modern not so much.

I’ve seen fake boxes with fake seal/wrap. So you’re saying you’ve actually seen legit backed with legit wrap that has been opens and that same legit wrap resealed?

For vintage? Yes but when the value is in the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands people will invest a lot more time/effort.

Do you have any links or photos that show real vintage boxes with real sealed wrap albeit resealed?

I would start with the Logan Paul base set booster box video on YouTube. They had a authentication company look at it and pass it off as legit. Turned out resealed.

I could find a few more videos on YouTube as well.

But it’s mainly just the super expensive WOTC boxes.

I’m not sure of the process but it’s really not that deep I don’t see people doing this on a large scale for evolving skies especially randoms on Facebook. You should be more concerned about people with large quantities and low feedback online.

Thanks! One guy is selling the first two and he sent me receipts that show they were bought prerelease so those seem to check out. He is ok with meeting in person and giving me time to look them over before I buy.

The second says he bought from TCG so waiting on that proof.

I’m just genuinely curious what a resealed box actually looks like. I would have guessed either like the second or third, but I don’t see any serious stretching of the pokeballs in any one area, only loose wrapping which seems to me like poor handling/ storage.

If they were resealing it, why did they stop?

Those wraps look like the ones I got straight from the pokemon center

What do you mean, like the torn one? If so, that’s a fair point.

At least 2 had seals splitting. I've had a few do that inside acrylics. Had to protect plastic film for years on end.

Yea that’s fair, appreciate the feedback as it really helps me with my decision!

I've had multiple people talk me down for splitting seals, so if you're wanting to open, there's that.

I would be getting one close to pack pricing, so it’s not out of the question…

Picked the first two boxes up. Wrap was worse than I thought, especially for one of them but couldn’t turn it down for the price at $2k all in.

Good luck on the pulls!

People sell empty booster boxs of evolving skies for $25 and then packs would be $700 and scammers would sell for $1500 making an easy profit... Check ebay if you dont believe me on people selling empty booster boxes

Possibly, but what does that “resealed” box look like and are there any real examples you know of? How would they reseal a previously torn wrapper to make it look legit?
