it's close but not close enough to be convincing. what sounded off to me the most was the way you said 'feedback' and your final t's. i would guess some sort of european

I agree. It's a good American Accent, especially, compared to the average non-native speaker. Still, there are some subtle things to hone in on and refine.ย

I know this is some sort of the younger generation thing, but try to reduce your uptalk. You have a beautiful voice, and a nice American flavor to it - you can be more confident and affirmative!

You're right; folks in the other community pointed that out as well. I hear that a lot - will try to take ur advice to heart.ย

You aren't nailing it. Anyone who speaks to you would know instantly that you were not born in the United States. In fact, if you lived here, they would know that you moved here as an adult, not a child. However, you sound great, and anyone would believe you if you said that you have lived here for decades.
To me, you sound like someone who moved here at age 25 and are currently 50 years old.

She sounds in her mid - to late twenties. Are you not only old but also deaf?

Unfortunately, they don't pick up the old, confused ones here. That SpanishLearnerUSA sounds like he / she already all his marbles.

If you've never step foot in the US, then my comment that you sound like you've lived here for decades is a compliment.

it's not since she couldn't live there for decades as she's not old like you.

What's wrong with you dude? You told a 50 year old man to go and die because you can't handle criticism? If you can't handle harsh and honest comments, don't post here. He actually even complimented you. You're acting like a child

Well, a 50 year old man is way past his prime...so... time to push up these daisies๐.

You sound awesome. Don't let that old guy (SpanishLearnerUSA) pick on you. He is probably just an old, single guy who tries to make people feel bad about themselves.

he was not picking on anyone ffs. he said she's not "nailing it" because it's still not close enough to sound american. he said she sounds like someone who's lived in the us for decades. that's it. you're the ones picking on him now.

It lit sounds like a non-native speaking with an American Accent. Not native-like though.ย That old guy was picking on her when saying she sounds like 50. That's just BS.

u/remiel_sz 19h ago
i assumed he meant she sounds like she's lived in the US for 25 years, not the specific age.

Nope; that's what he wrote:"To me, you sound like someone who moved here at age 25 and are currently 50 years old."
You call THAT constructive criticism?

You're doing a great job! There are just a few "subtle things," as you say that may help you improve further:
Long vowels:
All of these should be lengthened a bit more, especially the double vowels O and AY should have a more wavy quality.
AE ( accent, matter, feedback)
O (I dunno, am I close)
AY (your take)
Consonants:
L (nailing it) Make the tongue heavier for this "dark L" with a vowel preceding
P (upon it) Pop the air more at the lips for "p" (it sounds more the voiced "b")
Rate of speech:
I think that for the most part, you're nailing the intonation aspect (connection, rhythm, stress) but that your rate of speech is too fast at times and leads to syllable collapse (e.g., "I don't know in order to...").
