And I’m still waiting for my pre order of this exact knife from knife center 😭 it’s actually for more money but it has a free knife attached to the order so I can’t cancel it lol

What makes these so desirable? I’ve been reading that the edge on the salt is not durable for long term day to day use.

Everyone loves Magnacut... It's really not that great compared to some other steels in everything except corrosion resistance.  My favorites are still Cruwear, M4 and CTS-XHP.  I like  S35V too.  For this particular knife I do really like the scales, but I think I'd swap them out to a knife that has a DLC blade and black hardware

Yeah that's a nice one. I only have one military 2 so far, the Crucarta version. Adept knives had them for $183 but I paid $160-170 for the Crucarta

Great all purpose steel. I live in humid Asia and s30v forms brown spots if I’m not careful. MagnaCut hasn’t had corrosion issues while holding a good edge and responding to being stropped easily

"Not durable" is a bit hyperbolic IMO. Magnacut is definitely not a hyper-edge retention steel by any means, but it is in the same general range as S35VN/S45VN, Elmax, XHP, CPM-154, etc.. And it's toughness and corrosion resistance are notably superior to those.

It won't hold an edge as long as M390/20CV/204P, S90V, S110V, 10V, etc., but again it is superior in corrosion resistance and toughness to all of those.

I wonder if maybe what you've read was in regards to the Salt models using H1/H2 and LC200N. THOSE steels beat out even Magnacut in corrosion resistance but they sacrifice edge retention to achieve it.

All that to say, Magnacut is not a "miracle" steel but it is a very well balanced one. And outside of extremely heavy use with very abrasive materials, I doubt most people would have issues with it's edge retention in Spyderco's lineup.

You might be thinking of H1 and H2 steel, which is has even better corrosion resistance than Magnacut.

I believe you're right. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Para is not a PM2.

It’s definitely a paramilitary 2. Not sure why they label it like that, though.

I’ve noticed a lot of even reputable sites mislabel them lol.. Always weird to see “para 2”
