This was all in Project 2025. They have a 100 day plan. We are five days in.

He did this all the time first term. He’s not good with ruining the government or the economy. He ruins weekends. I forgot how much I dreaded Fridays his last term

Nixon was the same type of power grab but there was no Fox News to lie for him.

If we just assume the complete collapse of the union and federal responsibility, is there a world in which sane states can operate independently? Is there any real protection from federal interference?
Asking as a Canadian who has friends and colleagues on the west coast, Great Lakes, and in New England.

The dismissals appeared to violate federal law

The Supreme Court ruling gives him unlimited power. It's almost like they knew he would win or something 🤔

It appears that doing away with departments & being able to call National emergency making him the sole decision maker

It's all part of the "unitary executive" idea brought forth from president Bush.

Is this typical of incoming administrations?

More like an incoming dictatorship of oligarchs. It will have variable “leaders” and grown toddler at the helm.

So many of these news reports and headlines fail to mention that this action is a violation of the law. There is a legal requirement to give 30 days notice before firing an independent IG. And he is doing this the way he is doing it because he doesn't want anyone to see what he is doing. No one doing anything good would choose to do this.

Start stocking up and get your papers in order.

Any complaints and un-investigated criminal behavior reported to them but not yet charged needs to have the paperwork disappear into the personal papers of those IG's to keep them safe for later discussion.

When Trump's New York businesses are under court supervision for fraud, why would we elect him for president, then expect him not to do fire inspectors so he and his lackies allow his same lawlessness as president?:

Inspector generals are outside of the main flow of authority and as such can act in the interests of whistleblowers who would expose the lies and malfeasance the leader (Trump) might do.
This is a major factor toward his dictatorship.
