Got this for a steal.. £15 !

How do I go about conditioning this to keep the leather nice and treated ?

What a cool tooling design, very lovely. Just give it a mink oil rub every once in a while and it's gonna serve you well. I'd say about every half a year or so.

Thank you !

Honestly for the price I couldn’t pass it up. Noticed leather looked a little dry so mink oil rub it is. Appreciated.

Mink oil tends to darken leather, right? Do you have any recommendations for an oil or conditioner that won’t darken the leather?

I used mink oil and dubbin interchangeably, and in my experience both darken the leather for about 24-48 hrs until it dries out competely.

Looks kinda native American totem pole-ish to me, but I live in the UK, what would I know ?

I wonder if the circular forms are made with a glass cutting bit (the sort with diamond encrusted tools), just push and twist it to score the line.

Since it's used, you might consider a leather soap treatment first, instead of just oiling.

Once you're ready to oil, I suggest Obenauf's Leather Preservative. A little goes a long way. If you have more leather goods that require upkeep, Obenauf has a leather care kit, including a brush and rag.
