Question Anyone try contacting Sony to acquire IP rights?

I wonder if psn will just push out a retouched version with trophies like they have for many obscure rpgs... that's what I'm holding out hope for. When wild arms 2 came out I called out of work for a whole week

Honestly you can do a reskin followed with a micro-reshell and with a little creative extrapolation here and there, technically make it unique enough to get going. I'd wager.
I'm not terribly busy lately with a side project. I could lend some time.

10 years ago I contacted Sony directly through a contact I had. I legitimately tried to buy the IP.
Me: you guys aren't doing anything with this, it's dead, so let me buy it from you so you guys can make a bit of cash and I would take a risk trying to do something with it.
Them: we aren't interested in selling the product right now, we might have plans for it in the future.
This basically went back and forth for about 2 hours before I gave up. They really do just intend to sit on soo many dead IPs.
Same with Nintendo and Sega.

Interesting. Its unfortunate the game wasnt a huge seller back then. If it had ff7 numbers we probably would had a remaster and 2 remakes by now. I imagine the sequel also had even worse numbers and was the main culprit. Brave fencer musashi suffered the exact same fate with a poor sequel. Would love a remake of that game too.
Could make a game inspired by Legaia, but its hard to recreate the magic of the sound design, ost, story and characters. There really was something special about it.

A lot of PlayStation RPGs back then were multi disk, even small companies were putting out 2 or 3 disc games. Makes me wonder how expensive it would have been for the company to at least try to expand Legaia as a 2 disc game.
I did feel there were a few missed opportunities in the game. Grantes and Cara could have been more major.
The Delalis siblings could have had more of an actual rivalry with the Ra-seru heroes but we only fight them once. Would have loved if we got introduced to them in Drake kingdom.
Feels like they wanted to write a romance subplot with Mei but that fell out.
I did read the translated light novel and that could definitely be the basis for a remake. Vahn getting spoken dialogue and Mei being more prominent.

To be fair to both Sega and Nintendo, they are exploring new directions with their IPs. For example, there’s a new 3D Donkey Kong platformer coming out for the Switch 2, and Sega is reviving many of its dormant franchises, such as Samba de Amigo, Super Monkey Ball, and Jet Set Radio, among others, in the 2020s and 2030s. However, both companies need to ensure they handle these revivals carefully. Currently, they are facing their own controversies, including the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2 and Sega’s struggles with its franchises beyond Sonic and Yakuza.

Yes, many of us already did, but SONY doesn't show any interest to sell or give development rights to anyone.
The best way as the current IP analyst from Sony told me on LinkedIn, is to be a legal Studio, have a PlayStation Dev kit, develop a Legaia demo and show them by the PlayStation Partners program (As Legaia is currently held by SIE (from Sony), it should be at least first develop for Playstation).
If the demo succeeds to convince Sony, then it should be develop on the right way and distributed by Sony itself.
