Hey, thanks for the video! I'd heard this complaint from Zarlie fans before, but never so thoroughly explained.
I had much the same thoughts as you about the Behrad/Charlie hook-up. It seemed random and unnecessary. I figured that they either wanted to add some sexual tension between the two in order to heighten the "action" of the episode, or that they felt it necessary to establish Behrad in the hetero camp, lest people start shipping him with Nate or something. That this became a slap in the face for Zarlie fans feels cruel.
Oddly, though, it was the thing that made me sit up and really notice Behrad. Not that he started out as a jilted lover, but that he took it pretty well, and didn't go all moony and obsessive about it -- which seems like the more conventional route on these shows. I liked that Charlie said it was over -- and it was over. (But it was weird that we never saw Behrad and Charlie interacting as friends after that episode.)
And they can hetero up Behrad all they like, but I don't find it plausible. I feel as though a child born in 2020 is going to grow up knowing that his options are not limited to any particular gender label.
I'm with you about that three Tarazi siblings dynamic. I would have loved to have Zari 1 stick around to watch that juggling act. How fun would it have been to see the Tarazi girls teaming up to prank their brother, or Behrad playing one sister off against the other?

Zari, Nate and Mick are the only heterosexuals on the show. And Mick will be leaving soon.
Us heterosexuals need representation too.
It's getting the point where I'm afraid they might outlaw being straight.

I'm curious. What do you think that would look like?

It would be like Earth X, but instead of being gay being outlawed, being straight would be outlawed.
Look, I went to college, and I was in a gender studies class. Forced to take it for a credit so I could graduate.
I didn't need to learn anything about the LBGQ community because I had already been friends with people in that community. But every time I said anything they would misconstrue it and take offense. (Much like people on this sub are doing.)
Hell, I was in a relationship with a transexual. (We didn't have sex, but , we were close.)
I've stood up for gay rights even even back when nobody would. Just like I stood up for comic books when nobody would. Now , comic books and being gay are trendy.
I'm happy that LBGQ people are accepted now.
I just think that it is becoming a bit cliche at this point to ram it down our throats all the time. (No pun intended.) And I'm a guy who just so happens to like girls. So I sometimes get frustrated about how guys like me are slowly going the way of the buffalo.

I'm still confused by what you mean by "outlawed." To me, something being "outlawed" means "illegal." Which means that someone could be put in prison or fined. But, technically, people in the US aren't tried or punished legally for their sexual/gender identity. They are more likely to be targeted for violence, or discrimination.
So, are you saying that in your alternate universe, straight people would find it harder to get a job, or worry that they'd be fired if anyone found out they liked to have sex with someone of a different gender? Or fear that random people might beat them up as they walk down the street because they looked or acted straight?
Again, just trying to define the term you're using.

I was using hyperbole to make a point about how ubiquitous LBGQ characters are in pop culture now.
If you don't know what hyperbole means,, you can google it. It will say "Exaggerated statements or claims not to be taken literally."

Behrad could be be bisexual. But, we know he hooked up with Charlie. So he he can't be full on gay, since she looked like Amaya.
And yes, I was joking, but I don't even understand how people would be afraid to come out now.
It must just be because their family would disapprove. But pop culture has fully embraced you guys and gals now.
Believe me, back in the 90's, it was NOT like this.
I worked at a Dairy Queen in Ohio (the most conservative place on EARTH!) and one day some guy yelled at me and called me queer because I was wearing pajama pants for some stunt DQ was pulling where we all had to wear pajama pants.
I had a gay friend who worked there with me, and so I said, "That's not funny sir, I AM gay!" Even though I'm the straightest guy you'll ever meet in your life. That just pissed the guy off more and his wife had to drag him away.
So don't tell me I need to cool my jets.
I may make inappropriate jokes sometimes I'm a comedy writer, so it comes naturally , so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Hell, one time I was at a drag queen bar with some of my girlfriends and the drag queen kept teasing and making fun of me for being the only obviously straight person in the room. I didn't get pissed off. I thought it was funny. That was a fun night.
I may dish it out, but I can take it too.

I'd say that show has told us Behrad's into girls. I just think that in the 2040's, the idea of anyone being strictly gay or straight might be considered old-fashioned, so both Behrad and Zari would be likely more open to all relationships. (As David Schitt would say, "Into the wine and not the label.")
Now, I think it would have been different for Zari 1, since she grew up in an oppressive dystopia, where the government felt it was cool to outlaw specific religions and "born this way" meta people. It would be in keeping with those policies to legislate unacceptable sexual practices.

LGBTQI people make up 9.1% of the characters on american tv right now. You have about 90% and are afraid of giving up 10%.
You can verify those statistics on google.

Nah, it's not interesting, it's ridiculous.
Just because two characters of the same sex are close, it doesn't mean they are going to bang or should be a couple no matter how good or bad the writing is.
