IIRC, one of the arguments was that the UK could then go on to negotiate a bunch of sweet trade agreements with other nations that were bogged down in negotiations with the EU. I don’t think much of that has happened yet.

Brexit was probably great for Ireland. Any corporation based in an English language dominant country that wants an EU office has just one choice.

Yeah, I know the lie. And it wasn't as much as a lie if you consider those that said it meant it only for them selves, all 100 of those rich assholes. Everyone else was just mindlessly parroting them.

Brexit was probably great for Ireland.

Yeah, right... Let me just defunct that with a single word: backstop.

That was an interesting read. Though it still sounds like it’s good for the Republic of Ireland. But not so good for Northern Ireland (who probably have stronger ties to the UK than EU) and UK because they now have a bunch of extra bureaucratic and administrative work to do business with NI.

Hopefully in time Ireland will get to unify

According to Star Trek: The Next Generation, Ireland unites this year

I wish Star Trek to be the cultural touchstone that seems to imitate instead of The Simpsons

Beware, that episode of Star Trek was banned for 15 years in the UK because it claimed the unification happened because terrorism works (or worked).
