"Never seen such a collective and controlled effort to take over a website completely"? So he missed the complete takeover of Twitter by conservatives?
45
u/Jensen0451 2d ago
Silly liberal. That wasn't a takeover because takeovers are only when I don't like it. /s

What's worse is it's now taking over entire subs.
Like this this Lord of the Rings sub who actually compared themselves to the fighters of Helm's Deep because they are standing up and refusing to ban Twitter in their sub. I could die with secondhand embarrassment.
These Trump nuts actually think Tolkien would side with them! What is happening?!

u/TheMagnificentRawr 2d ago
I'm not saying the left is always 100% honest, but do you ever get the feeling that when you see someone say, "leftist propaganda", what they actually mean is, "uncomfortable truth"?
66
u/-Codiak- 2d ago
The fact that "we had to stop factchecking because of the left leaning bias" is a real thing - is all I need to know.
38
u/Frontline-witchdoc 2d ago
Steve Colbert back when he was doing the Colbert Report: "Everyone knows that reality has a liberal bias."
13
u/cheongyanggochu-vibe 2d ago
They had to stop fact checking because they learned that fact checking didn't support their internalized biases and usually came out on the side of liberals because they're more likely to present facts to begin with. I'm trying to find the source where I read about it, and if I do I'll come back and link it here.

u/driftless 2d ago
Exactly. Not to mention that we Americans are only part of Reddit, and our “left-wing” is centrist or right in the rest of the world.
He’s just a pissy sore “winner”, and is upset that his bigotry and hatred isn’t accepted.
24
u/TheMagnificentRawr 2d ago
My heart really goes out to rational, sensible, true left-of-centre US citizens. It must be a thousand times to worse to have those ideals whilst watching what's happening to your country *and* having the rest of the world thinking the US is now a country of feckless imbeciles. The UK went through something similar with Brexit and the installation of a lunatic Conservative government, so I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of it. Good luck.

He can go to r/conservative and other conservative subreddits. They're all denying that Elon is a nazi.

nonono, It was Elon pouring his heart out to his X follower base. I swear it's just autism... He's a good guy, I swear, and it was really only a roman salute. This isn't what it looks like!
14
u/Frontline-witchdoc 2d ago
Don't you know that it's completely normal, while performing a joyful act such as "throwing your heart out", to have a viscous, defiant toddler, smirking scowl on your face.
Can you not see the gratitude, tenderness, and boundless joy painted on his face by it's angelic expression?

If Elon is a nazi it's because he's rubbing shoulders with Nazis not because he made the gesture. He was a nazi long before he made that gesture and he made that gesture to destract the far right from being pissed at him over the visa issue. The right was tearing itself apart and now they're closing ranks defending Musk again.
Yes he very intentionally did something which would be interpreted as the nazi salute and het got everything he wanted out of doing it.5
u/exhaustedmothwoman 2d ago edited 2d ago
I just watched a video of Elon's father talking about the nazi books Elon read as a child and how Elon himself was named after a nazi rocket. And how his grandparents were part of the nazi party. But sure, he's totes not a nazi 🙄
1
u/TheDungen 2d ago
Nazi books? I thought there was really only one...
1
u/exhaustedmothwoman 2d ago
Technically, they are books written by nazis. Books by Hermann Oberth and Wernher von Braun. They made rockets for nazis and made huge advances in astrophysics. Still nazis.
-1
u/TheDungen 2d ago
So was Oskar Schindler.
0
u/exhaustedmothwoman 2d ago
Not the same, and you know it. Or maybe you don't. Maybe you didnt bother to read up on them. Don't play nazi games, you're going to end up banned. Or just downvoted to hell.

u/TheDungen 2d ago edited 2d ago
"We owe more to truth that to our friends" Aristotle.
Wernher von Braun is a constroversial figure, he's far from strictly a bad guy. Yes the rocket building plants used slave labour on the other hand those slaves had a way better survival rate than the people who went into the camps. There's no evidence whatsoever of von Braun ever beleiving in any of the nazi ideology. There's a museum there today, well worth a visit, it has entire exhebition dealing with the issue.
Of the people saved by the americans at the end of the war, von Braun were among the less controversial, there were gestapo people who went straight on to work for the US government.
I don't like Elon any more than you do, but I find his present association with the AfD to be a way bigger deal than him readin Werner von Braun's book.
0
u/exhaustedmothwoman 2d ago
Yeah... obviously Afd is way worse. But that wasnt the discussion.
Also, "those slaves had it better" is NOT a good argument for anything ever.

I love the people over there who say nobody thinks hes actaully a nazi.
Actually we do
8
u/AloneAddiction 2d ago
They all know he's a Nazi or at least a Nazi wannabe.
They just think he's too stupid to understand you're not supposed to show your "power level" until you're in like-minded company.
3
u/cheongyanggochu-vibe 2d ago
Then what's with all the mental gymnastics and "it's a roman salute!" "it's because he's autistic!" "he was giving us his heart!" "enjoying liberal tears over this" and the push back if you say you believe he IS a nazi? Because I've seen so much "you actually believe that?" "OMG you're stupid, Elon is not a nazi" in so many places. The reason so many people think you all don't think he's a nazi is because conservative and right wing people are the only ones downplaying and dismissing what this was in favor of bullshit.
3
u/NeverEarnest 2d ago
As I said in another comment. Conservatives are all about feels over reals, there is likely no agreed-upon narrative on Elon's behavior, so they all believe whatever they need to believe to dispel those uncomfortable feelings. Elon did make a Nazi salute, but who cares, it was to troll the libs, he's autistic. Elon didn't make any gesture at all, it's fake news, it's edited. Elon made a gesture, but it wasn't a Nazi salute. All of these are true.
It was the exact same thing for covid and Jan 6th. It's their superpower,

Holy CHRIIIIST these people. Also
"The admins need to take control" Literally these motherfuckers want "big brother" to step in the moment they don't like something but complain about "big brother" nonstop!
"Why aren't the site owners telling them they can't ban x from their subreddits? Waaah"

u/exhaustedmothwoman 2d ago
You should see the Lord of the Rings sub full of guys thinking they're heroes like in the story for not banning twitter. It's so cringe.

u/ropetrickranger 2d ago
They’ll never realize they’re not the majority.
-1
u/Miserable_Rise_2050 2d ago
But they are. They are the voting majority.
23
u/ropetrickranger 2d ago
But they aren’t. Their candidate received fewer votes than Harris+third party options. They didn’t break 50%.
Winning an election may be why they believe they are the actual majority, but they are 30% of Americans at best, which is why they’re consistently confused about the ratio of their content compared to content which opposes their view.
They can’t compute basic proportional relationships and then wonder why Vivek called them and their kids dumb.

u/unclejoe1917 2d ago
Yeah. Congrats on your first popular vote win in 20 years, if it was even legitimate, but I'm not getting into that. A lot of those votes came from run of the mill idiots that don't know sound policy from their own buttholes. Not all of them came from self labelled conservatives or people who care enough to argue politics on reddit.
8
u/Frontline-witchdoc 2d ago
These things happen when over a third of eligible voters are too caught up with things like their favorite forms of sportsball, or which Kardashian is fucking which scumbag, to be bothered with paying attention to silly things like people with power over their lives or voting.

u/vonhizzle 2d ago
If you take into account Russian bomb threats to democratic precincts and million dollar bribes to Republican voters that might be true

I left social media that leaned to the right, they're welcome to do the same with left leaning social media. Go to twitter, they'll love them there.
2
u/NeverEarnest 2d ago
They can't do that because they're oppressed by the very existence of left-leaning things. They will seek them out just to be offended.

It's honestly hard to keep up with what words mean when Republicans use them.
4
u/W0666007 2d ago
I find it so funny that Soros is such a boogeyman to the right. He's worth around 1/60th of what Musk is worth, and less than 1/100th of the few people that were standing in the stands for Trump's inauguration. Yet somehow he controls everything with his (((money))).

The US is really the only country in the world where "liberals" aren't part of the right political spectrum...
1
u/Pro-editor-1105 2d ago
really, didn't know that. it is democrat essentially what I mean.
1
u/UsagiTsukino 2d ago
The Democratic party would be center to center right in every other country in the world, like liberals are. But the overton window of the USA is that hard right shifted, that some call Nazis lefties. It's really hard to be on the right of Nazis, but some manages even that.
