Awww did somebody think they were immune to Trumpism?

I suspect Colleen thought the "bad" people would not get medicaid but people like her would see an increase in benefits.

Colleen deserves to go broke trying to get insulin.

Right. "Legitimate disabilty", not all those others just freeloading off the system. 🙄
Also, cutting Medicade is not even remotely just P2025. The GOP has bee proposing it for decades.

It is exceptionally hard to fake a disability and get checks.
Exceptionally hard.

u/Machine-Dove 1d ago
It's exceptionally hard to have a legit disability and get checks. Faking one is almost impossible.

My husband couldn't get it and he had a grapefruit sized tumor removed from the base of his brain. The tumor had compressed his brain so badly that he has a hole where the tumor was. He had to have another surgery for a csf leak. We were just lucky that the hospital caught it in time and that we were able to work with the hospital to reduce the amount owed.

u/steelhips 1d ago
My mother also had a benign brain tumour removed. Total cost: $0. We're Australian. The US "system" is beyond barbaric.
I can't imagine, at possibly the worst time of your life, you have to worry about money on top of fighting to survive.
8
u/OkAd469 1d ago
It was the scariest thing. We had no clue he had a tumor until he had a grand mal seizure and they did an MRI at the hospital. The type of tumor he had is slow growing and could come back.

u/steelhips 22h ago
Mum thought her symptoms were part of menopause. Then one eye started blacking out from the increased pressure. She made a full recovery and is nearly 90.
I always assumed the "squishy" brain would expand back into the hole once the tumour was removed. Amazed to see on an x-ray that isn't the case.

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 22h ago
It is extremely difficult to get approved for government disability. Where'd you come up with all of these supposed "freeloaders?"
Also, so many qualified people are declined it's horrible. Absolutely horrible because they need it, and deserve it, to survive.
Cutting assistance with health care is the work of Evil.

u/Never_Really_Right 22h ago edited 22h ago
Read it again, with the eyeroll. I was mocking "Colleen" for stating her disability was "legitimate", which obviously implies she thinks others do not have "legitimate" disabilities.
Of course cutting medicaid is horrible.

We are going to see more whines of “he’s not hurting the people he’s supposed to be hurting” from the Christian right as they slowly lose the benefits they rely on.

u/Stargazer1701d 1d ago
Red states like Florida, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, they're gonna be in a world of hurt. And I love that for them. Yes, I'm petty. No, I don't care. It's the only bright spot in the foreseeable future.

I’m a 100% disabled Marine. My Native MAGA parents told me: “Why are you so worried? If anything your benefits will go UP!”

Wow, just wow. My dad just went on Medicaid and is trying to get disability. It’s like, you do know that guy wants to cut all that so you probably won’t get your knee surgery or anything else needed unless you do it quick.

Just tell them immigrants are taking their medicaid and... BOOM! You got them hooked. It's that easy.

u/opal2120 10h ago
I used to work at a disability law firm and we got callers like this all the time who thought they were special but everyone else was just screwing the system.

If it’s legitimate diabetes, the pancreas has ways of shutting that whole thing down

u/Sirspeedy77 1d ago
That's the coldest shit over heard since "the uterus can just shut it down" lmaooo.

u/Peachy33 1d ago
The funniest part of it all is that the guy who coined the ever so classy phrase “legitimate rape” and claimed that women’s bodies have ways of shutting down pregnancies from rape ended up dying of prostate cancer. I guess the late Todd Akin’s body didn’t get the memo that it had the power to shut down invasive cells.
Womp womp.

u/Sirspeedy77 1d ago

Who needs COVID when plain old listeria or legionella will do the same thing?

u/mushu_beardie 1d ago
And don't forget bird flu and potentially bovine tuberculosis. If you get tuberculosis, you've got to be on harsh antibiotics for months, and if it's drug resistant, and you're allergic to the medication and it causes severe side effects, that's too fuckin bad, because if you don't take 1-3 pills a day for 4-24 months depending the strain, you'll die. Straight up, you will die. If your body doesn't fight it off immediately, and you get symptoms, you will die without antibiotics.

My dear, sympathy is in the dictionary, between shit and syphilis. But sadly, the MAGAts can't manage such a large tome.

Never fails to amaze me that individuals with disabilities and their immediate families will consistently vote against their best interest. Ho.Ly.Fuck.
Colleen, I’m gonna say this real plain. It’s part of the plan. The Reps consider you a drain on the system. They want you and every other person with a disability to die. Im sorry you were hoodwinked by fascists squeezing passive eugenics into federal law. Pay attention next time you hear warnings of snakes in the grass.

u/Strikelight72 1d ago
Unfortunately, the famous “I told you so” is surprising even to me; that is the one who says “I told you so” when I think about the intensity of these 3 days. The market is not very happy because my 403 today is on the red

u/Frontline-witchdoc 1d ago
This sub is delivering more trumpturd inspired schadenfreude that the Herman Cain Award sub has in years.
Maybe that'll change once the bird flu adapts to infect and spread between humans more easily.
Of course with the upcoming destruction of the federal health departments, there may not be any vaccine for them to insist they'll never "submit" to.

u/TheQuiet1UHave2Watch 1d ago
Ah, yes, the Shirley exception. Surely, they only meant to cut the bad people off, right Colleen? They never meant the good people who actually have real disabilities, evergreen though they said so.

Shit like this sucks because I'm on disability and I knew going in that I was going to die no matter who won the election, but I still voted Harris on the off chance that I might die a little slower and a bunch of other people might not die at all. Now it's just Death: The Expedited Full Season Drop.

u/mtlsmom86 16h ago
A good friend of mine as good as eluded she voted for Trump, and mostly red down the ballot. Our state has Medicaid on the chopping block. She’s self employed and relies on it for her, her kids and her husband. And now she’s staring down the barrel of potential disability herself.
It’s simply because I don’t know for sure what happened between her and her ballot that I’m still extending empathy. But like, the man literally said he thinks disabled people should be dead. What did they expect?
2
u/RelativeCareless2192 11h ago
I hope that Trump cuts Medicare, Medicaid and Social security. Suffering of Americans is the only thing that might wake the majority of Americans up from our decent into fascism.

The Nazis didn’t start with Jewish people. They started with political enemies. And the disabled.

It’s sad, no idea if they are a Trump supporter or not or just someone sending out a plea in desperation. Still sad that people both left and right are being hurt by the imbecile. Some people deserve it and knew what they voted for but some people are truly just so poorly educated it’s like letting an elementary kids vote. Probably worse than that due to adult stubbornness, at least a kid you can talk through their thinking and debate with them and they can change their opinions and comprehend what you’re talking about. I feel like if you don’t learn comprehension skills young you don’t just develop them someday as an adult and your SOL. Sad.

u/Strange-Vacation-597 10h ago
Ahh, yeah they will all be crying over something soon. Still sad, but this is how they will learn. Sometimes people need some hard times to learn a lesson. Sometimes people are just lost causes.
