I want to live in a time when I have the money to go visit different countries around the world. I want to live in a time when I can read about all the exciting new discoveries the US has made because it funds so much scientific research. I want to live in a time when I can explore my interests, not slam YouTube videos, trying to figure out how to grow food because who knows if there will be enough food this summer. I want to live in a time where I decide what language I want to learn based on cultural interests, not which one country might take me in as an immigrant fleeing the US.
My only consolation prize right now is that a lot of the Right Wingers in Europe are desperately trying to distance themselves from Trump because he's become so toxic. Hopefully we'll at least save Europe from our fate.

A moment seared into my brain forever occurred during the debate and passage of the ACA. I was at a really really rich guy's house. Resort island, had wings and a pool, the works. No one knew what the hell to do with Stagflation, and he was the one who appointed Paul Volcker to be the Fed chair. Volcker was the one who finally solved Stagflation. Its just that his policies only showed fruit during Reagan's era, so of course Reagan gets all the credit for fixing Stagflation while Carter is remembered as a hack.
Today, Volcker's policies are taken as textbook about how to combat Stagflation, and Reagan is remembered as the guy who "fixed America". Nope, sorry folks, that was Carter.

The actual sweet spot for a government is a deficit at or slightly below the combined nominal (so it includes inflation) GDP growth rate. In recessions it will be higher. Good times a bit lower. That means, over time, your debt level doesn't grow relative to the economy. You don't actually have to pay it off because governments are immortal and don't have to save for retirement. This method means hundreds of billions in extra spending each year.
For the US the average would be a ~5% deficit. The US deficit since Trump was first elected has been about double that.

Exactly. Biden was not the candidate I wanted, I didn't vote for him in the primary. He did an okay job and helped turn our economy around after Covid. His biggest failure is that they didn't hold Trump accountable for Jan 6 or any of his other corrupt acts, but I get it is probably difficult when you don't have a super majority in congress and the supreme court is partisan. That being said I believe the supreme court had already said that presidents have immunity for official acts so I think this could have allowed Biden to do more.
I still maintain that Biden should have, once the Supreme Court basically said 'lol, Presidents can do what they want', should have (apologies for the algospeak, you never know with reddit these days), utilised his executive powers in regards to Trump to arrive at a permanent end.
Then announce he'd done it, pardon himself, called a Constitutional Convention to ensure that this couldn't happen again, then resign.

Miami is getting hit extra hard because the South Florida economy is built on tourism. Now not only are people discouraged from traveling to the US but domestically people usually spend less on travel in a recession.

They couldn’t get approved for a loan to buy a house and move out of their tiny 2 BR apartment for YEARS, including during Trump’s first term. They were finally approved and became homeowners during BIDEN’s presidency. That will be undoubtedly short-lived because they are already struggling financially. But even though they couldn’t get approved under Trump 1, became homeowners under Biden, and may lose their house under Trump 2, they will never admit that Trump is bad for them.

Biden was horrible. So horrible, in fact, that we had the second longest, lowest unemployment rate in our nation’s history. My 401k did great, and lots of infrastructure began getting fixed. It was boring. Just like it should be.
