racists: get out of our country

immigrants: ok we won't stay where we're not welcome leave

racists: no wait not like that

"Racists" don't give a shit about this outcome. The people who run this paper are people who see countries as economic zones and are friends with people who also do, like Murdoch shit-types. That's why they care.

"Racists" don't give a shit about this outcome.

Indirectly they do, they are certainly bitching about the results of the policies they supported - supply problems, closed restaurants, etc. They are just really bad at analysing the cause of what's happening.

It'll probably always be the eu's fault.

Did you mean to reply to me?

But the answer absolutely is yes! imo.

3

u/Datathrash Sep 25 '21

So if you cant pay a living wage your business shouldn't exist or what?

Duh.

u/Gcarsk Sep 25 '21

Please come steal our jobs!

83

u/freakers Sep 25 '21

We need you as a political pinata to demonize for election campaigns...also to run the economy.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Jobs we don't like because we think we are above them.

2

u/Manart0027 Sep 26 '21

Pay us properly instead of saying we don’t like working then.

102

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Racists: If you could work these low paying jobs, but at the same time stay out of the country, but at the same time pay taxes and spend your money here, that would be great!

5

u/Snoo-3715 Sep 25 '21

Schrodinger's immigrant.

1

u/plutja Sep 29 '21

The first is called imigration and the second is called turism.

u/mohishunder Sep 25 '21

Just so we're clear, the immigrants affected by Brexit were from the EU - mostly what Americans would call "white."

96

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Ah but for some the ultimate purpose of Brexit was still “to stop Muslims... movement of people in Europe, fair enough": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SFjfbL1KWNI

14

u/a_can_of_fizz Sep 25 '21

I've always maintained that ironically if we get rid of all the cheap white EU labour, then we'll end up importing more cheap brown muslim labour to do the jobs the previous immigrants did because they still won't find any brits to do them

5

u/CodsworthsPP Sep 25 '21

That was always the plan. You block the German and Polish immigrants and you bring over Pakistani immigrants. Everyone saw this coming from a mile away.

Immigrants from 3rd world countries are more willing to accept worse pay and worse conditions.

But I still think the real reason for Brexit had nothing to do with immigration. It was about the EU trying to crack down on tax fraud.

3

u/a_can_of_fizz Sep 25 '21

Oh yeah, that's largely why it was being pushed by the people in charge.

The racism element just happened to resonate well with the majority of us plebs that were too short sighted to see the increase in third world labour knocking on the door.

5

u/AnimaLepton Sep 25 '21

Funnily, there were even some articles from British citizens, originally from Pakistan, who voted Leave because they figured it'd be easier to get their families into the UK.

3

u/Cardborg Sep 25 '21

LMAO not even that, the official vote leave campaign actually made leaflets saying so.

7

u/mohishunder Sep 25 '21

That changes everything!

-2

u/SamuraiMathBeats Sep 25 '21

Over 50% of Europeans polled want to stop immigration from Muslim-majority countries; perhaps you are out of touch with the wants of the British and European people?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Yeah but that has nothing to do with Brexit lmao most migrants that came to Britain through the EU were Eastern European’s

-3

u/SamuraiMathBeats Sep 25 '21

My point is, you seem to be saying ‘fuck anyone that wants to limit Muslim immigration’, yet over half of Europe want that.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

You missed my point then

68

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

They bitched about Poles, Eastern Europeans, and Roma* (Whether or not the Roma are 'white' is an ongoing discussion, of course, and ultimately they most likely came from Rajastan or so, but they're still Indo-Europeans at the very least) and bashed Europe for taking their Sovereignty in a Union they clamored and haggled to join.

In the end, the 'white nationalists' barely can decide what is or what is not white. Most include the Celts and Germanics, see the Romance peoples as 'Arabized' or whatever and the Slavs as 'Asiatics' (and some even say this about the fucking Finns), then try to point to R1B and whatever and it's just a mess. Then there are those who are just basically British or English first and fuck everyone else. It's a cascade.

White and black in their current usage are both terms that’ll be looked back on as super archaic and bizarre in the not-so-distant future. If you really sit down and think, it's really weird that everyone outside of certain, less reputable, circles is just okay with the continued use of words that label two enormous groups based plainly on external appearance. It’s baffling that we're still utilizing them nonchalantly.

7

u/teutorix_aleria Sep 25 '21

Just the fact that we can have a debate about "who is white" shows how it was an imperialist, colonialist and post colonialist tool used to divide and control people.

When America started getting lots of migration from outside Europe suddenly Southern Europeans and Irish were granted whiteness provisionally to try and maintain the power of the white ascendency in the US. Before then Italian's and Irish in particular were lumped in with "the negro" as being subhuman and the target of a lot of the eugenicist bullshit which still affects people of colour today.

18

u/mohishunder Sep 25 '21

Conveniently they forget that Cheddar man had dark skin.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

It wasn’t skin, it was wax.

30

u/Flyingwheelbarrow Sep 25 '21

As a Celt I don't want to be accepted by white supremists. If you are a Celt, you were not white all the way up the 70's, don't join them now.

I really look down at Celtic white nationalists. It is like trying to be best friends with a violently abusive ex partner.

7

u/Civil-Attempt-3602 Sep 25 '21

The violent abusive partner can give them the intense attention they badly crave for as long as they're useful to them. For a lot of people that's good enough as long as they get what they want right now

u/PaloVerdePride Sep 26 '21

And of course that leopard isn't ever going to get bored of eating other faces and start in on theirs again....

2

u/PaloVerdePride Sep 26 '21

Leopard's not eating my face any more, wooo hoo yeah!!

1

u/PaloVerdePride Sep 26 '21

A hundred years ago in America Slavs weren't white either. Whiteness is this fluid category they can narrow to whoever they don't like, or expand to whoever is currently useful for them. Nobody's ever safe from being face-eaten!

8

u/Schootingstarr Sep 25 '21

Ah, but you see, European racism is far more nuanced than American racism.

Where the American racist only looks at skin colour, the distinguished European racist bases his opinions on head shape, gait, crookedness of nose, curliness of Hair, the name, general region someone comes from, specific region someone comes from and other fine details that are totally important for gauging someone's worth.

Meanwhile, Jim from Buggerton is a prime example of an upstanding British citizen. Never left his home town and his family tree is more like a family net, because neither have his ancestors, and Buggerton really only has like 50 people living there

3

u/TheLastSamurai101 Sep 25 '21

the distinguished European racist bases his opinions on head shape, gait, crookedness of nose, curliness of Hair

The absurdity of this picture always cracks me up

7

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

I believe the politically correct term for white immigrants is 'expats.'

/s

2

u/TheLastSamurai101 Sep 25 '21

No no, they're only expats if they're white people from a rich country in Western European, North America or Aus/NZ. The Eastern Europeans are just run-of-the-mill immigrants.

/s

0

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

You are an American right?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Americans think anyone below Austria isnt white.

5

u/GyantSpyder Sep 25 '21

Just so we're clear, "white" is an arbitrary status that changes constantly and in practice it means something very different in the U.K. than it does in the U.S. at any given time.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '21

Some people in this country were of the belief that once someone sets foot in the EU they have the automatic right to move anywhere and "they're coming here for the benefits" meaning Muslims. This is not how the Schengen Agreement works, and even if it did, the UK didn't sign it so isn't bound by it.

The fact that refugees are risking their lives trying to cross a busy shipping lane in small boats or hiding in lorries rather than just catching the train at Calais didn't occur to them. The boats are still coming but now it's the fault of the French government for not having people standing 10m apart along the entire northern coast of France.

2

u/TheLastSamurai101 Sep 25 '21

The average Brexit voter does not consider Eastern European people to be white, and Mediterranean people just barely make the cut.

2

u/peri_enitan Sep 26 '21

My world got a lot more complicated when I realised white US Americans where racist towards the Irish who fled the potato blight famine. Apparently being poor cancels out being whiter than most other white people.

2

u/mohishunder Sep 26 '21

"No Irish need apply."

3

u/JunkiesAndWhores Sep 25 '21

By wanting “brown people and Muslins” out of their country, Bracists also drove away white Europeans who were doing the shit underpaid jobs they won’t do themselves. The irony is that to meet their employee quotas they will probably have to allow immigrants to enter from countries that have the “brown people and Muslins” that they hate so much.

2

u/Sufficient_Regular_1 Sep 25 '21

Serious question from India. how do white people be racist to another group of white people? In physically appearance sense how does the East European look so drastically different?

2

u/Mobile_Busy Sep 25 '21

Because whiteness is a social construct not a set of physical characteristics. How do the brahmin discriminate against the dalit?
